5.0 out of 5 stars Winning gift for a newborn

2.0 out of 5 stars works sometimes only for a short period of time
i bought this cd after reading the reviews. it is not as superb as they describe it to be. there are about 99 tracks but 30 or so different sounds, so the same sounds repeat at least 3 times. my baby doesn't seem to be entertained by some of the sounds and i skip them to find the ones she likes best. it works only when she is too sleepy and any other cd may also do the...

4.0 out of 5 stars Tiny Ears CD even keeps adults' attention, January 12, 2004

This CD even kept ME interested. So many different sounds, some repeated to breed familiarity. You won't know what's coming next, and neither will your baby! Even sounds of mommy talking to a baby, but in the secret mommy/baby language. The clip of paper crumpling really bothered me, but apparently it was something that kept my attention when I was a baby, per my Mom's recollection. When is the NEXT one due out?

This imaginative compilation of real world sounds encourages parent-child interaction and engages both in an educational experience that is developmentally stimulating as well as entertaining. This CD makes learning fun for my 9 month old. Thank you Tiny Ears!

Now that my baby is 3 months old, he really likes listening to this CD. He smiles at certain sounds and it keeps him busy for a good 15 minutes while I get ready in the morning!

5.0 out of 5 stars Like Magic-- MUST HAVE, December 20, 2004

This CD is amazing. It is a series of short (5-20 sec) sound clips of real world sounds, such as babies cooing, children laughing, train whistles, animals, etc. We keep it in the car player permanently, and it works like magic with our twins, who are now 6 months old. They ALWAYS listen to it attentively. If they were fussing, they stop and listen. They find it both interesting and soothing. And for adults, the sounds are pleasant, sort of background noise, making it about a million times more palatable than the 20th consecutive playing of Goofy singing "There's a Hole in the Bucket."

5.0 out of 5 stars It really works..., February 22, 2004

This is an amazing compilation of interesting sounds. Since there is a wide variety of sounds, it does not get boring for the adults either.
Last week, I went to see my friend's 3-month-old baby at lunchtime and gave the Tiny Ears CD as a gift. The baby was very fussy when I got there, so I suggested that we try playing the CD. We played it and the baby enjoyed it for about 20 minutes or so while we could have lunch.

It was amazing to see the CD work. It kept the baby busy and interested while creating us time to have lunch.

5.0 out of 5 stars comforting familiar sounds, November 9, 2003

Unlike adults, kids would not mind watching, listening to things over and over. I think there is a comfort in familiar sounds and images, and repetition is foundation for learning. We all know the positive effects of audiovisual toys and movies on kids, I think this CD definetely brings these benefits to infant level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique CD to keep the baby entertained, November 4, 2003

Unlike many of the CDs on the market that tries to put the baby asleep, this one has a compilation of different sounds to entertain the baby. It contains close to 100 tracks, less than 30 seconds each, of sounds like laughing babies, horses, birds, water, etc. Although it is designed for infants, even my 2.5 year old also enjoys it, trying to guess what the different sounds are.
