Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Mainstays of comic books since the 1960s, and stars of two generations of cartoons, the Teen Titans are morphed into Tot Titans for a series aimed at younger audiences. Adventures that include “welcoming” a new principal, getting a new dog, babysitting younger siblings, and fighting for one’s spot in the playground are told in gag vignettes, most lasting 2-3 pages. The art is pleasantly funky, filled with motion and lively color, but the book as a whole proves a difficult example of audience selection. An in-depth knowledge of current Teen Titans continuity is necessary to distinguish between the massive cast of characters and to understand the relationships between them that many of the punch lines rely on; and references to such obscure touchstones as the movie Fight Club would make this a somewhat bizarre choice for most young readers. For large collections, this would be a good offering for young fans of the Teen Titans cartoon or those readers who are super-hero crazy, but too young for DC’s Adventures titles. Includes games and posters. Preschool-Grade 2. --Jesse Karp

This review is from: Tiny Titans Vol. 01: Welcome to the Treehouse (Paperback)
This was purchased for my six year old son who really likes super hero comic books. My 12 year old daughter loved it, she thought it was very funny. My son liked it a lot too. I liked that the the super heroes are kids. I've been searching for a while for a comic that was apropriate for a child. I had ordered a subscription to Marvel Adventures, which was advertised to be for ages was 6 to 12, but I hated the trashy way women were potrayed in the drawings. I was very happy to find these books. Gee, comics appropriate for children....what a novel idea. :)

Tiny Titans is a perfect read for all ages. It's goofy and awesome and chock full of dc characters, only a little different then you might remember them!

The Art and Writing Team of Art Balthazar and Franco are a match made in geek heaven, as they've been working together for years already with Patrick The Wolf-Boy, Gorilla Gorilla (featured in Disney Adventures)and many others.

This book is perfect to get for kids of all ages, and heck, I'm 21 years old and it still makes me smile and chuckle. I cannot recommend this enough! Buy 10 copies! hand them out to friends!

AWWWW YEAH TITANS!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for all Ages, October 12, 2010
This review is from: Tiny Titans Vol. 01: Welcome to the Treehouse (Paperback)
This series has done more to excite my children about reading than any other book. Adults will enjoy the character development, clever spin on DC heroes, and subtle moral lessons. Children quickly relate to the characters and their daily situations with friends at school, the playground, and the tree-house (every boy loves the idea of tree-houses). Children will also love the overall silliness of their mis-adventures. My children range from toddlers to 5 years and I imagine older children will enjoy it just as much.
