This was purchased for my six year old son who really likes super hero comic books. My 12 year old daughter loved it, she thought it was very funny. My son liked it a lot too. I liked that the the super heroes are kids. I've been searching for a while for a comic that was apropriate for a child. I had ordered a subscription to Marvel Adventures, which was advertised to be for ages was 6 to 12, but I hated the trashy way women were potrayed in the drawings. I was very happy to find these books. Gee, comics appropriate for children....what a novel idea. :)

Tiny Titans is a perfect read for all ages. It's goofy and awesome and chock full of dc characters, only a little different then you might remember them! The Art and Writing Team of Art Balthazar and Franco are a match made in geek heaven, as they've been working together for years already with Patrick The Wolf-Boy, Gorilla Gorilla (featured in Disney Adventures)and many others. This book is perfect to get for kids of all ages, and heck, I'm 21 years old and it still makes me smile and chuckle. I cannot recommend this enough! Buy 10 copies! hand them out to friends! AWWWW YEAH TITANS!!

Perfect for all Ages,
This review is from: Tiny Titans Vol. 01: Welcome to the Treehouse (Paperback)
This series has done more to excite my children about reading than any other book. Adults will enjoy the character development, clever spin on DC heroes, and subtle moral lessons. Children quickly relate to the characters and their daily situations with friends at school, the playground, and the tree-house (every boy loves the idea of tree-houses). Children will also love the overall silliness of their mis-adventures. My children range from toddlers to 5 years and I imagine older children will enjoy it just as much.

Some of the jokes are corny but still a fun read,

This re-imagining of the Teen Titans and its plethora of members and foes over the years as Kindergartners and faculty at Sidekick City Elementary is a super sweet sugar coated comic treat. The humor is friendly for all ages not just children. Many of the jokes are obvious (Some groan inducingly so) but there are of course inside jokes for fans familiar with the Titans which makes this an even more enjoyable reader for older fans. In all honesty I believe the humor works better for an adult audience who can catch all the inside jokes. This trade includes the puzzles and games as well as the pin-up art from each individual issue. It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is a very welcome break from the sometimes overwhelming serious tone of comics and excellent for a laugh. The authors have children of their own and I doubt many, if any parents would find material in here which is even remotely inappropriate. |
