One needs to have cultivated a specific interest in Native American history in order to fully appreciate the depth and detail of this study of the Jicarilla Apache Land Claim. Nordhaus, an attorney, provides the first history of the Indian Claims Commission and its actions in establishing Apache lands. Excerpts from the Indian agents' accounts enliven an intriguing story. -- Midwest Book Review
