Book Description

TWO DEAD CLIMATOLOGISTS...AN INTERNATIONAL CONSPIRACY...A LOOMING ECOLOGICAL DISASTER...With news just out that Arctic sea ice appears to have broken the 2007 record daily extent and is now the lowest in the satellite era according to NSIDC, Kindle thriller TIPPING POINT couldn't be timelier...

When eminent climatologist Dr Dale Stanton, studying the Atlantic Ocean's Thermohaline Circulation is found murdered, his last will leads environmental lawyer Robert Spire on a roller-coaster adventure from Wales, London, San Francisco and Paris to the freezing wilderness of the Arctic on a quest to prevent environmental disaster.

Ebook download TIPPING POINT is an ecological action-thriller with a perfect blend of action, adventure and thrills with an environmental theme.

TWO DEAD CLIMATOLOGISTS

When eminent climatologist Dr Dale Stanton - in the process of studying the Atlantic Ocean's Thermohaline Circulation - is found dead in his London apartment, environmental lawyer Robert Spire is given the task to administer a large legacy left to global warming organisations. The job should have been straightforward, until a second climatologist, Dr Jack Bannister drops dead on the other side of the Atlantic.

AN INTERNATIONAL CONSPIRACY

Spire's client - suspicious of her son's death - asks him to travel to San Francisco to investigate Dr Jack Bannister's death. Whilst there, he meets French Climatologist Professor Francois Trimaud who is working on a geoengineering project to seed the Arctic Ocean with an experimental substance - the aim, to prevent, or at least slow the Arctic's melting ice. Spire soon discovers that someone has other plans for the region and wants the climatologists dead at all costs.

A LOOMING ECOLOGICAL DISASTER

As evidence of increased glacial melt in Greenland and reduction in the Arctic ice mounts, Spire becomes determined to join Trimaud on the research vessel, Mercure Blanc on a joint US/French expedition to the Arctic. He soon finds however, that the lives of all on board are in peril as he discovers a plan that threatens to push the Arctic to its tipping point and the Earth to disaster...

"Simon Rosser's scientific and psychological thriller "Tipping Point" is one of the best I have read in the past decade. He has a gift for fluent narrative, realistic characterisation and for creating settings that come vividly to life for the reader. He blends tension and suspense very successfully against the contemporary background of global warming and its sinister implications." --Author, TV presenter and Priest Lionel Fanthorpe -

Simon Rosser, author of The A-Z of Global Warming draws on his experience to write Tipping Point, a pacey adventure-thriller with an environmental theme. With crisp dialogue and engaging characters, Tipping Point will appeal to readers interested in adventure thrillers with an environmental twist.

What the readers are saying;

"Compelling story about a very current issue"

"Tip top global adventure"

"Enjoyable action-thriller"

"Great yarn, couldn't put it down"

"Well-crafted environmental thriller"

"Simmering suspense" Robert Spire's second action-thriller "IMPACT POINT" is now out!

Author note -
Tipping Point has now been completely re-edited to cure any typo's and grammatical errors missed in the first edit. Enjoy! 05--03-12

4.0 out of 5 stars Mixed cocktail! April 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a nice and easy read, and overall likable. I could deduce the following forumla:

- take the science from the 'The Day After Tomorrow'
- take an ex- KGB assassin from Fredrick Forsyth
- mate Jack Reacher (Lee Child) with John Grisham's lawyer to produce a wanna-be James Bond
- Bring in twists and turns of a James Bond movie.
- Borrow a punchline from Bond - "My name is Spire, Robert Spire"!!
- Shake them well

Viola! You have the 'Tipping Point'. Mind you, I am not bad-mouthing this novel, just giving you a feel of what to expect. Rosser has done an appreciable job of blending all the elements together, and such an effort from a working professional balancing his day-time job, family and life, is commendable. I like this for the fun read this was, for the sincere effort of the author, and obviously, the story that was interesting enough for wanting to turn the page.

2.0 out of 5 stars Needs some editing work March 8, 2012
By Katrina
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this book based on the previous reviews, but found it was not very polished. Punctuation, especially commas (or lack of them, I should say), was a problem throughout the book. There were several misspelled words (yes, I'm aware of the differences between American and English spellings). A couple of scenes had inconsistencies in regards to time elapsed. Probably the most annoying to me was the head-hopping. The character point of view changed in many scenes without a break to give warning of the change.
The character of Robert Spire had some depth to him, but the others were not well-rounded. At a couple different points in the story, I found character actions to be implausible.
While the basic story line was okay, it had too many technical errors for me to enjoyably read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tipping Point by Mr. Rosser July 22, 2012

What a fun ride! I could not put this thought provoking book down! The plot moves along quickly leading the readers on a journey they will not want to end! The story is a skillfully written thriller full of twists and turns. The subject is very a propos with the melting in Antartica. Global warming Is definitely a possibility.

Mr.Rosser is a brilliant author and a superb storyteller! in his standout offering, he gives us a taut action packed thriller!
This week end, my to-do list suffered greatly, I could not put this book down! I will definitely buy everything this author publishes and I recommend this story to anyone enjoying thrillers It is brilliant!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not my cup of tea
I found the writing overdone. I tried the second book in the series to see if it improved on the first but it didn't. Too wordy and an implausible plot.

Forthcoming Books - Third Robert Spire Action-adventure thriller MELT ZONE (Robert Spire 3) and 2012 edition of THE A-Z OF GLOBAL WARMING.

My first writing experience, if you could call it that, came from my love of horror movies. Saturday night would be horror movie double bill night. I'm talking about all the Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee and Vincent Price films, vampires, monsters, mummies and werewolves. I kept scrapbooks of all the films I saw between 1977 and 1981, and still have them to this day. I'd spend hours drawing a little picture of the film and appraising it - the writing part!

Roll on 25 years, I decided to write the factual A-Z of Global Warming to clarify the complex subject of climate change. My thrillers are a mix of ecological and technothriller with I guess a bit of Sci-Fi thrown in for good measure.

If you have time, and enjoyed reading any of my books, please stop by and leave a review. Thanks.
