5.0 out of 5 stars Tippintown full of life; tour amuses and delights, April 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Tippintown: A Guided Tour (Hardcover)
Calef Brown's latest book is awesome. It's a celebration for an imaginary town and will make you wish you could live there.

I first heard about it through Publisher's Weekly, it got a rave review, comparing Brown's prose to Edward Lear, his art to Picasso!

And I have to say, it didn't disappoint! Your kids will love this one! My niece especially loves the triple-canoe...you will love reading this--maintains its appeal through the obligatory repeated readings!

5.0 out of 5 stars If your children love Dr. Seuss..., October 11, 2009

This is one of my children's favorite books. The rhyming, the illustrations, the subjects throughout the story are creative, thoughtful and engaging for toddlers, preschoolers and beyond. Each time we read the book, we look for new or unusual things we didn't see before, and we always find some. I highly recommend it, especially if your children love One Fish, Two Fish or Green Eggs and Ham.

4.0 out of 5 stars neat book, June 30, 2004
This review is from: Tippintown: A Guided Tour (Hardcover)
Tippintown is a fanciful journey into the most unsual town. We are introduced to the oddities of the town through a whimsical, rhyming tour guide. A child's giggle box could easily be turned over through the imaginative illustrations and the outrageousness of the tour's guide description of the town, its people and their wild day-to-day adventures in life.

The poetry seems to be choppy at times and its use seems to be unnecessary. The child is too drawn into the pictures to really focus on the poetry.

This book is recommended to any family who enjoys to laugh at the silliness of stories like Alice in Wonderland.
