A Must Have for Serious A5 Owners,
This review is from: Tippmann E-Grip Selector Switch Electronic Upgrade Kit (Sports)
This is a short and sweet video to show two of the different settings on the eGrip (which I incorrectly refer to as and "eTrigger" in the video). This is a terrific add-on to the A5 if you're wanting to make the step to full auto. You'll notice when I switch to full auto, the sound cuts out a little (it couldn't keep up with the rate of fire!) Positives: * Easy to install (took me < 10 minutes) * Shoots 13 BPS out of the box * Works well with a Flatline barrel (definitely recommend using HPA!) Negatives: * On/off switch and battery bay are in awkward places (meaning you can't camo wrap your grip) * Selector switch is a little clunky

The Tippmann A5 Egrip w/ selector switch is bada**. This egrip has to be one of the best inventions for any Tippmann marker. The Egrip will not only do its job but will intimidate the hell out of other players. You have 5 different modes to choose from with this Egrip but I personally like to use the Semi-Auto mode, which most fields will only allow the Semi-Auto. For anyone who plans on upgrading there A5 hands down this should be your first upgrade and then everything else. The Egrip is pricey but well worth it TRUST ME. Personally I think the best use for this egrip is woodsball. I used it in speedball and indoor speedball works great but better off in woodsball. I highly recommend this to any person who is interested in upgrading there A5.
CONS- When in fully auto it shoots 15 paintballs per second (in some cases can shoot up to 30pps) but the paintballs start to break inside the barrel after a while. This being said, I noticed that the Egrip will work well with 16" barrels no matter what type of barrel it is. I also have a 18" barrel for my sniper and for some reason it would not work. The balls would also break inside the barrel even when I cleaned my marker (I still think it's probably the paintballs I use). Finally you must bring extra batteries with you to every game. One battery will at least last you 4 to 5 games and thats not a bad thing just depends what type of games you play. Keep in mind i play woodsball and those matches can last really long. Overall this Egrip is a really good upgrade for your A5, has a few cons but what doesn;t now and days. I recommend this to anybody but to those who are serious paintballers the most.

This trigger is freaking awesome it's really sweet how you can shift modes on the fly, and to change the battery just open the door on the back side of the grip. it says in the manual its programmable to 15bps but i had it up to 30bps but my gun can only do about 20bps. also has a new asa and is weatherproof

First the down side: This egrip EATS 9V batteries. Be prepared to spend some $$$ on buying them. And I've had to reset mine 3 times over a few days worth of play, usually when the battery runs low...at first I thought it was broken firing on full auto but just needed the reset.
The up side outweighs totally: The marker is firing much faster with the new grip, even on regular semi auto. Its nice to switch to a different mode when you want to lay down heavy paint and then switch back to a more conservative rate. Also, the FPS seems to be more stable (this also may have to do with the removal of a flat line). Overall, its expensive (use those reward points) but a nice and fun luxury add on to the A5. Works best with HPA...for C02 tanks it seems generally the response trigger is better.

It is a bit pricy but once you get on the field and get to try your newly upgraded A-5 it all becomes worth the price. The only drawback is that with the fully auto mode you waste paint balls quick and also your CO2 goes faster. It was quick to install and easy to clean. Keep in mind you now need to buy 9v batteries.

PRO:
Very easy to install, easy to put together and use. Full auto is great! Makes your a5 look really sexy. Even more like an mp5 now. CON: Only concern is the price, it was VERY expensive for what seems a small chip board that fires for you. It costs about half the cost of this gun new. Otherwise, little to complain about. ***Special note*** Upon opening the box their is a sticker notifying you that someone somewhere must have complained the gun e-grip was too powerful at some point so it is now factory fixed to fire no more than 13 bps....now that was still, a LOT of balls when I shot it.

Hey I'm a avid player, and this trigger is awesome. the problems - if you replace the battery (or turn it off) you have to reprogram it to what you want to shoot when you are on special mode. its easy to do though. the trigger works great and on full auto it shoots 15 balls a second, but can be changed to up to 17balls a second. its entirely programmable, although i really haven't played with many of the settings. the battery when fresh will last a whole day of playing (i replace my battery every time i go out, and take the old battery and throw it away at the end of the day - don't want to loose the shooting ability on the field) the con is when the battery is dead so is your gun unless your carrying your stock trigger...
all in all worth the cash if you play a lot, especially on fields that allow full auto modes.

i looked all over for a grip like this that with a flick of your thumb i am not a spray and pray player, but i need full auto for playing as a backer and when outnumbered. i love this grip and have plans for reverting to the stock grip. there were 2 slight problems that made this a 4 and not a 5 star, first the selector got a bit loose and i had to look down once to make sure what setting it was on and secondly in the bright daylight it took some getting used to to make sure it was still on.

One of the best markers I've ever had,
By The stock barrel is a lot better than the Model 98's, but I prefer a cheap smoothbore 16" aftermarket barrel. I also run on compressed air as CO2 just will not cycle this gas hog. So, it's not the most accurate, it's certainly not the fastest firing, it's not very lightweight, and it's a gas hog, BUT with that aftermarket barrel...it's the second most accurate marker I've ever had. It's also one of the most fun because it feels so solid, looks so real, and even has a real feel to it. When stalking through the woods, I found it just fun to peer down the sights....'course, it's a LOT better when there's a few red armbands on the other end. That's when the egrip earns its pay, and yeah....it's worth every penny. I strongly suggest getting the A5 with the egrip, and an aftermarket barrel!!! -Scott Malensek author of The Weekend Warriors and 50+Ways to Play With Your Paintballs |
