Product Description

The Tipton universal bore guide will help protect the bore and action of your rifle by properly aligning the cleaning rod and reducing solvent overflow. Cleaning without a bore guide can allow the rod to "bow" and rub or gouge chamber and throat of the bore causing real damage and loss of accuracy. Keeping the rod properly aligned not only protects your barrel, it directs the force exerted on the cleaning rod handle allowing tight patches to be pushed more easily.

Works well with 5.56mm MSR and 30-06 bolt action rifle.

If you want a refund, its easy, but if you want the right item that is in the picture, try to buy it somewhere else.

The bore guide was not a snug fit, but it worked for its purpose.

I am able to give this product 5 stars for two reasons; 1) I knew what the basic bore guide kit looked like before ordering, 2) I have used one before and understand the correct way to use it. This bore guide is good for pretty much any rifle from 17 up to 460 and can save your finish on your rifle whether it is a highly polished walnut stock or a tactical paintjob on your synthetic stock or AR platform rifle. It will work on your rifle if you understand how to use it. Lots of people claim it doesn't becuase of improper use. The only reason that it won't work is if the bolt is smaller than 0.695" in diameter. I have written instructions on proper use below if you need it.

Slip on the bolt action collar, or the large AR-15 collar depening on your application, then slip the bore guide tip that best fits your barrel/chamber. To know what fits best just take the cleaning rod and attach a barrel brush. If it slides through the guide without too much excess space, you have the right bore guide tip. Slide the guide in the rifle. For bolt guns, slighty screw in the brass handle in the bolt guide, slide the handle into the bolt handle cut out on the rifle and screw in tight making sure the cut out for solvent is up. It is now locked in place and ready to use. For AR's, slide the collar further down so the hole in the collar is visible through the ejection port. Screw in the handle so that it just touches the back of ejection port.

The pictured item is the deluxe bore guide. The item you receive is the basic bore guide. Deceptive.

What you see in the picture its NOT what you get! The item I recieved its the same brand but realy basic and looks nothing like the picture. Hard to resolve the problem with amazon, I call them few times, they send a replacement and what I got it was the same thingh. If you want a refund, its easy, but if you want the right item that is in the picture, try to buy it somewhere else. To big of a company to resolve small problems!

It just arrived. It is EXACTLY what is pictured.
I read the reviews, some critical of the photo, saying it was not what shipped. However, I decided to chance it.
Amazon apparently made the correction. It looks useable and well designed.
I'll add to this review after I have used it.
1-27-14 update: I have used this on a 300 WIN MAG, 270 WIN, and 264 WIN MAG with newly purchased Tipton carbon fiber cleaning rods(these are fantastic)that I bought because my old rods were too short to accomodate the extended length of the guide tube and it works just beautifuly. The three different sized plastic tips that fit into the chambers and two different locking sleeves can be selected for different calibres. Push the tip snugly into the chamber then adjust the locking sleeve so that the short threaded locking rod turns snugly down where the rifle bolt handle would close. Use the confusing instructions if all else fails. I just switched around different components until I had a match that worked for each calibre.

So if you are a newbe to the shooting scene, like I am. And are attracted to this product because it says "universal," like I was. And you love the Tipton brand, like I do. Be warned, this is not a universal "fits all" bore guide as it claims to be, and tries to be for that matter.

Chances are, if you have a 22lr bolt action rifle like I do, internationally made, this guide will probably not fit your rifle. Now if you find recommendations that say otherwise (I will stand corrected) but take my recommendation to search the internet to see if a company (like Sinclair or others) makes a specific bore guide for your rifle at roughly the same price, so you can save yourself from buying this product first.

I give the product three stars because otherwise I think it is made rather well for what it is and I like how it is supposed to snap into the bolt. I just don't like how it is so easy to think that this will fit any and all rifles when it won't do that.

I bought this for use with a CZ 455 and found that it doesn't fit. This is a particularity with the CZ design, I believe, and not really a dig on the product--but it's something to keep in mind if you're thinking of purchasing this. On the plus side, it has an adapter for use with an AR, which I haven't tried yet, but should be helpful.

Had to trim the 22 cal adapter some to fit a Mossberg MVP but once that was done, it was a perfect accessory. Locks into place securely.
You won't regret owning one.

I got the regular, not the deluxe kit that is displayed in the picture.
It doesnt fit properly. Am gonna buy a "Possum Hollow" "Satern" or "GunSlick" brand.
