5.0 out of 5 stars Best album of the past 10 years
My buddy Mitch got this CD right after it came out in '99 and all I could remember was that his stereo wasn't hooked up right in his minivan and would re-start the CD every time you got back in the car. So I got to hear "A Lie and A Cheat" about 500 times. But it's a killer song, so that's ok. "All My Friends Are Ghosts" is the best thing Hopeless...

3.0 out of 5 stars godd songs, bad mix
I stumbled upon scared of chaka after buying a hopeless records compilation. needless to say they were the only thing worth listening to on that cd. they make great music, the melodies, song structures, and vocals are fantastic but as it shows on this album, the diy punk attitude keeps this album from sounding great. the vocals are buried under a chainsaw of a guitar...

Wait, this ALBUM is the best thing Hopeless will ever release!

5.0 out of 5 stars straight forward punk rock- or is it?, July 7, 1999
By A Customer

Scared of chaka defy the business side of the rock world by creating a sound that cannot be neatly placed in any musical genre. If you enjoy rock you will enjoy this album. But if you prefer punk rock you'll enjoy it even more. If you like hard rock I think there will be some moments for you, heck if you like more emotional punk you'll like it. Go buy it- support the purity in their motives, as they are not seeking fame and basically have no public image.
