Book Description

One day twelve-year-old Tirissa discovers that everyone in her village is under a spell. Everyone but her! Then she sees a mysterious stranger change into a huge bird, a bird with a beak like a sword. Did he cast the spell? Desperate to find someone who can break it, she flees, leaving her village behind. An old herbwoman tells her to seek help from a wizard who lives far away, and her journey takes her across the Three Kingdoms. Along the way she's joined by a kindly troll and a short, fat palace guard. They are pursued by the twin princes of Kellayne, the best hunters in the Blue River Kingdom, as well as by the huge, dangerous bird. Meanwhile, an evil wizard watches Tirissa and her friends in his magic mirror and plans a second spell that will kill everyone in the Three Kingdoms.

More About the Author

As a child I loved to sit under the peach tree in our backyard and read novels like "The Wizard of Oz" and "Wind in the Willows." My love of nature and of children's fantasy re-emerged many years later and resulted in my writing "Tirissa and the Necklace of Nulidor," which won a 2010 EVVY Award in juvenile fiction. 4.0 out of 5 stars At least 4 stars, November 20, 2009

This review is from: Tirissa and the Necklace of Nulidor (Paperback)
With so many readers into paranormal novels, I think this one should be a big hit. In a world of mysterious spells, humans that can change into birds, wizards, magic, and trolls, what pre-teen or YA could resist such a book? It is just the kind of book most kids like. Well-written and timely, it is at least, a 4 star read.

4.0 out of 5 stars A quest to restore the light of life...., September 7, 2009

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Tirissa and the Necklace of Nulidor (Paperback)
A dark magic, Three Kingdoms within the grasp of a mysterious peril and one young girl with the power to save them all....such is the tale spun within "Tirissa and the Necklace of Nulidor". Tirissa is the main character, henceforth the title, and begins as the sole exclusion to a darkness that has fallen upon the land. Adopted by the family with which she lives, she has never felt separated from them, until now. Though growing pains are felt in many relationships, the changes she sees happen within an instant. The life and love in their eyes disappears to be replaced with a dullness likened to the shadows that dance in the night. What has caused this strange affliction? What power can be used against it? It is these questions and more that begin Tirissa's quest to save her world from the stronghold placed upon it.

The author, simply known as Willow, allows readers the chance to partake in this magical story with well developed characters whom are both likeable and enchanting. Although intentioned for young adult readers, this fantasy world readily welcomes one and all ready to depart on a quest imagined by many, but experienced by few. Join in Tirissa's band of "merry" travelers. You never know what adventure may lie just beyond the turn of a page....happy reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars A young adult's magical fantasy of Nulidor, September 7, 2009
This review is from: Tirissa and the Necklace of Nulidor (Paperback)
The wind blew and the earth trembled, and Tirissa a young girl of 12 becomes the only one around with true life in her eyes. She's from the village of Oakenwood. She believes a bird, known as "the Beak", cast a spell on everyone. She knows she must find help for the village. Here is where her magical journey begins in this book titled "Tirissa and the Necklace of Nulidor".

Tirissa's first stop after leaving the village, leads her to being captured by none other than a troll - "Oglo", who becomes a very important friend to her throughout the story. She finds out she must travel to the palace and along the way and when she reaches the palace more than you can imagine will take place.

So, what do a necklace, deadening stone, crystals, and wizards have in common? The author, Willow does a wonderful job with these fantasy characters and magical items keeping you entertained and interested in this story. This is a very good fantasy read for a young adult.
