The problem is that there are two buttons to be pressed to "open" it, and if one of the buttons is pressed, it does opens.

There is no lack of choice when it comes to watches, but if you want one that (a) tells the time and the date without the addition of a lot of (to me) pointless dials and bells and whistles, (b) can be read clearly in any kind of lighting or environment, (c) is not as big as a dinner plate, (d) has some classic style, and (e) won't require that you get a second job, it's amazing how difficult it is to find anything. This one took me a long time to find, but it fits the bill on every count. If you like watches with built-in GPS and that can tell you how many feet underwater you are and what time it is in Beijing and don't mind one arm growing longer than the other, then you won't like it. But if you want something that is sharp, simple and stylish, and that you can wear to work and play, and that will go with any ensemble, then this is the one for you. I highly recommend it.

I would like to echo the first review - this is a simple, elegant, superb watch. One additional thing that I would like to highlight, though, is the strap - more specifically, the clasp. You can't see it from the picture, but as the details on this page mention, it is a butterfly clasp with push button. It sounds complicated, but all you need to know is that this is a superb mechanism that allows you to size it for your wrist the first time, then keep that setting permanently - and from then on, you can take it off and put it back on every single day without wearing out the strap at all. With an ordinary strap, you have to bend the strap to get the spoke in the hole - which ends up causing wear at that point in the strap, and ultimately the leather cracks because you bend it every single day. This mechanism is fantastic and results in zero wear or damage no matter how many times you take it on/off. Aside from that, the black leather is of great quality, with a pleasant heft and substance to it, and excellent grain. And the clasp ensures it's protected. Highly recommended.

I am thrilled with how this watch looks on my husband and he loves it too. It's durable, beautiful, and as previous reviews have discussed, the clasp is very sturdy.

We have closely watched the timekeeping and as expected, it passes every scrutiny.

However, I cannot say the same for the date function. Thus far, we have been unable to easily manipulate the date as there does not seem to be a second notch. Do you know how long it takes to manually wind a watch forward 9 days? For the price, I do have an expectation in ease of use and in this one category, the watch falls dismally short of expectation.

Everything else is top notch. The crystal is sturdy and has withstood banging, laundry, dishes, and the watch itself has survived 2 bathtub dunkings with no visible damage to the band.

    Truly a great purchase.

Very good looking watch and is very accurate time keeper.
FYI: The watch band is on the last hole and I have an 8" wrist.
The luminous hands are are not very luminous.
But all and all this is a great watch for the money.

I have had this watch now for 2 weeks, and it is accurate to a second, that means about 2 seconds a month, or about 24 seconds a year, this is within the swiss certification standard, COSC, for quartz watches this is within 25,5 seconds a year, if it keeps the good accuracy the rest of the year, it will have accuracy compared to the most expensive quartz watches, exellent.
This is a hansome, masculine classic loking watch, with a timeless elegant design that will look good even a hundred years from now. The silver hands and stick time markers give very good contrast, so it is easy to read in very low light conditions as well, with a elegant uncluttered dial. A big date window let you read the date easier than on most other watches.
Waterproofed to 10atm, it will withstand accidents like dropping it into the sink, submerge it while washing your hands, forget to take the watch off in the bathtub etc, good for everyday use, and goodlooking and classy enough to more formal occations.
The tang type, buckle and pin type clasp make it unecessary to bend the leather band to take the watch off and on your wrist, making the leather band last much, much longer then other leather bands.
I recommend to soften the leather by bending it inwards between your fingers for a few minutes before using it, and it will be shaping itself to your wrist much faster.
A very comfortable watch to wear, rides low on your wrist, so sleeves fit over it easily. It has a battery indicator, so called EOL, the second hand start jumping for 4 seconds at a time when the battery must be replaced.
Down to 258$ from 375$, this watch is a find, I recommend it highly, Tissot is a high quality brand from my experience, it will last a Lifetime.
I purchased my Tissot Couturier from Jomashop, who delivered to my door it in just one week, from one continent to another, very good.

The simplicity projects much elegance, but it is still just fine for daily use.
So far I have it 3 weeks. Got used to the band. Still looks brand new.

I saw one of the reviewers had issues with the date function. Basically the watch has an internal notion of AM/PM that is not displayed. Pull the knob all the way out, and rotate forward (advancing time) until the day moves forward by one. Now you are in AM. Now set the correct time (if it is PM, rotate forward 12 hours first). Now set the date. All set.

This is the first watch of mine at this price range (used to buying significantly cheaper watches). I definitely feel the difference.
