For more than 150 years, Tissot has embodied the innovation and tradition of Swiss watch-making. Based in the Neuchâtel area of the Jura Mountains, in Le Locle, Switzerland, Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Emile created the watch making company Tissot in 1853. Whether in the technology of its movements, in the research for special materials or in the very functions of the watch itself, Tissot's engineers and watchmakers have developed pioneering timepieces over the years.

Some of Tissot's triumphs over the years include the the Idea 2001 (the world's first plastic watch) released in 1971, the Rock watch (which set the timepiece's movement in a stone case made from Swiss Alps granite) in 1985, and the Wood watch from 1988 (with a completely wooden case). Tissot uses the best movements (from ETA SA Manufacture Horlogère Suisse), the highest quality materials (316L steel, 18K gold, titanium) and scratch-proof glasses (sapphire crystal--at least 2500 Vickers).

The company has been involved with high profile sports events since 1974 when they sponsored a racing car in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, France. Since then Tissot's timepieces have been chosen as official timekeepers for world championships in cycling, motorcycling, fencing and ice hockey. And Tissot is currently the the official watch and timekeeper of NASCAR.

Tissot timepieces have been worn by a bevy of celebrities over the years--including Grace Kelly, Elvis Presley and Nelson Mandela--and James Stewart's character L.B. Jefferies wore a Tissot timepiece in Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window." Today the company is represented in a variety of sporting fields by English soccer star Michael Owen, IndyCar driver Danica Patrick, and MotoGP world champion Nicky Hayden. Today, Tissot is a member of the Swatch Group, the world's largest watch producer and distributor.

I bought this watch after spending several months researching Suunto watches but holdng off due to concerns about the quality. I wanted an altimeter, compass, thermometer and weather trend indicator because of the amount of time I spend oudoors. It wasn't until I saw the T-Touch in a store that I really sarted loving it due to how light and comfortable it is, as well as looking appropriate for sports or busines casual unlike just about any other gadget watch. With Tissot you get that Swiss engineerig along with the Suunto gadgets. All in all a great piece of engineering. I'm impressed with the weather trend feature's ability to predict, the accuracy of the altimeter compared to what my GPS tells me, and the accuracy of the compass compared to an actual compass. The absence of a backlight kinda sucks but the luminous hands do the job and I dn't think I need the other features at night. Love the alarm too, it's loud and disctint.

Amazing watch, super useful and easy to access the features. Light, comfortable, and a fun conversation topic. I would say that the glow in the dark should be on the time marks, as it is just on the N-S-E-W on the bezel, and the hands, and it could be a bit brighter. The black coating seems to be rather tough, and even stays black when small scratches appear. The touch screen function only works with bare fingers, so you have to use your nose or tongue when you have gloves on. The minute hand is very precise, points directly to the minute mark on the minute, and moves to an intermediate position after 30 seconds, then moves onto the next minute mark. Buttons have a heavy push that is not going to be pressed accidentally. Locking mechanism is very secure, and does not chatter or rattle. I have not had it in sand or covered in mud, so I cannot testify to how it handles after being exposed to debris. My last tissot watch stayed on my wrist even being thrown in 10' waves, and multiple bicycle crashes, and this mechanism appears to be an improvement on that design. The rubber band is comfortable, but best suited to those with round wrists, my wrist is a bit flat, so I have to wear the watch a bit looser than I would like. If you hike, bike or enjoy being outdoors, or get lost in a city when travelling, the compass is super useful, and the altimeter is a great tool to have for hiking or biking. The barometer is quite amazing, not only does it show the current barometric pressure, it indicates the current barometric pressure in relationship to the trends of the last 8 hours. The only thing that is mediocre is the thermometer. Understandably so, it reads the ambient temperature of the watch itself, so you have to take the watch off and let it sit for a decent bit before it reads the actual ambient temperature of the environment, instead of the temperature of your arm. Definitely a great purchase, and am very happy to be the owner of another fine Tissot product.

If you have owned two or three G-Shocks in your life and are ready to grow up, this is the watch for you! I personally have own many G-Shocks and they are great watches, but in recent years the quality has dropped. I needed a watch that looked good enough to wear with business casual and tough enough to handle my various outdoor adventures in yard work and hiking. All the functions are useful and seem to operate with very little difficulty. I find the touch interface to be far far superior to most wrist watches and well it's kind of cool too. Two quick notes when you grow up and order a real tough watch: Don't have two glasses of wine and try to size the wrist band. Parts direct 1-877-839-5224. You won't find the parts anywhere else. Second, read all the instructions. Once you have, you'll see how easy it is to use.
