The Tissot Story

For more than 150 years, Tissot has embodied the innovation and tradition of Swiss watch-making. Based in the Neuchâtel area of the Jura Mountains, in Le Locle, Switzerland, Charles-Félicien Tissot and his son Charles-Emile created the watch making company Tissot in 1853. Whether in the technology of its movements, in the research for special materials or in the very functions of the watch itself, Tissot's engineers and watchmakers have developed pioneering timepieces over the years.

Some of Tissot's triumphs over the years include the the Idea 2001 (the world's first plastic watch) released in 1971, the Rock watch (which set the timepiece's movement in a stone case made from Swiss Alps granite) in 1985, and the Wood watch from 1988 (with a completely wooden case). Tissot uses the best movements (from ETA SA Manufacture Horlogère Suisse), the highest quality materials (316L steel, 18K gold, titanium) and scratch-proof glasses (sapphire crystal--at least 2500 Vickers).

The company has been involved with high profile sports events since 1974 when they sponsored a racing car in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, France. Since then Tissot's timepieces have been chosen as official timekeepers for world championships in cycling, motorcycling, fencing and ice hockey. And Tissot is currently the the official watch and timekeeper of NASCAR.

Tissot timepieces have been worn by a bevy of celebrities over the years--including Grace Kelly, Elvis Presley and Nelson Mandela--and James Stewart's character L.B. Jefferies wore a Tissot timepiece in Alfred Hitchcock's "Rear Window." Today the company is represented in a variety of sporting fields by English soccer star Michael Owen, IndyCar driver Danica Patrick, and MotoGP world champion Nicky Hayden. Today, Tissot is a member of the Swatch Group, the world's largest watch producer and distributor.

Love this watch just got it ,little getting use to at the beginning at setup ,10 minutes later you get it .quick setup use Google earth for altimeter and compass setup ,find a website for the magnetic declination adjustment , 4 degree deference in my case ,now I am at the playing stage ,compass azimuth are pretty cool, use the lcd screen and listen to the beep when you use the azimuth and the little lcd arrow point you in the direction you set it, its freaking cool ,once I find my exact altitude on Google earth ,started to play with that .its a beautiful watch that looks like a regular watch ,that turns to a hiking climbing diving ...... watch , but you would not know it by looking at it .It is on the thick side ,so if you want a thin cute little watch ,this is not it .

Great watch, fulfills all descriptions and expectations. Functions work perfectly, titanium frame gives a good weight, sapphire crystal is the best to avoid scratches. Rubber band is a bit stiff at first, but it eventually loosens up.

One thing that is not so great is that to adjust the band to your wrist, you need to cut it along predefined marks. So you run the risk of having either a very loose or very tight watch on your wrist. But as the rubber eventually loosens up a bit, the fitting might get better.

The T-Touch has been in my must have list of watches for years now. I finally pulled the trigger and bought one for myself and I must say it is an excellent watch. Definitely a must have for any watch collector.

The first time I took it out of the box it had that ho-hum effect on me. This is because I am not really a big fan of titanium watches. I just find the dark dull color of titanium doesn't have that wow factor compared to shiny stainless. But with the thickness and the size of this watch it makes sense to go with titanium. The diameter at 43mm is not so large but I was surprised on how thick this watch is. This is something to look out for, you may not be able to wear this under your dress shirt sleeve without having to pull the sleeve over it everytime you look at the time. Anyhow like I said unboxing it was a bit anti-climactic for me. However once I got to use the features I was completely wowed. I own my fair share of Pathfinders and GShocks and none of them can compare to the looks of this watch. It's truly amazing that at this price point how they can fit all that stuff and make it an ana-digi watch at the same time. I am very happy with this purchase. The only con I can say about the watch is the lack of solar power or rechargeable power. I think that if they made the carbon dial into a solar panel or make the batter rechargeable like those MTM watches it would be awesome. But other than it's a great timepiece. It does so much more than my other so much more expensive watches.
