Tissot T-Touch Titanum,
Great watch. Looks good. Feels good on. Quality has been excellent, so far. I only have two complaints, one minor and one moderate. Minor: When you touch the face to change functions you get fingerprints all on the crystal. Moderate: It has no backlight--makes it tough to impossible to read in the dark.

Under-rated watch, future collectible,
By This watch is a great piece of engineering, despite the fact that most of its underlying guts are no more glamorous than a $50 Swatch (who, ironically, owns Tissot). For all its quirks, I love this watch. It's comfortable and properly styled, looking sharper than watches costing 10x its cost. This thing is a daily driver that needs little or no care or maintenance. I'd gladly pay $700 again for this watch, and should anything happen to my beloved Tissot, I'd buy another in a heartbeat. Can't say that about most quartz watches. The touch-screen crystal is really cool -- no doubt about it. The features it surfaces (referred to as complications to horologists) are novel but limited. The alarm and compass work as desired, and they're really the only two "complications" that matter beyond telling time. Everything else is just a gimmick: the thermometer gives the temperature of your wrist instead of the ambient air. The barometer can tell you if there are clouds above your head (turns out that it's faster to simply look up). The altimeter needs constant calibration, but otherwise works as advertised. Normally, I'd say it's nuts to recommend spending more than $50 for a watch with quartz movement. But in this case, if you can swallow the nerdstyle premium without a care, this is a GREAT watch.

Best watch I ever owned,
By kscorvette (Kansas City) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Tissot Men's T33758861 T-Touch Titanium Watch (Watch)
My wife bought me one of these 1 1/2 years ago for Christmas. I thought she paid too much but in this time I have grown to love this watch. I have a very acid sweat yet this watch has never shown ANY corrosion or decay. I have used it in the mountains for direction, alitude, and temperature. I have used all functions but most of all for a beautiful watch. Everyone comments on its looks and then I show them its tricks. It is a watch for life.

Problems with the compass,
By I bought one T-toch a year and a half ago. I loved this watch. I'm a gadget guy and to have everything in one... but unfortunately I hade problems with the compass. The fist time, 6 months ago, I took it as it was under guarantee and they replaced it. Now, six months latter, with a new one... same thing. I thought it was my fault because I travel a lot and I did put the watch through the x-rays, but with the second one, I never put it... so they have faulty compass....

My most worn timepiece,

This review is from: Tissot Men's T33758861 T-Touch Titanium Watch (Watch)
I have some rather exotic watches, but this watch is the one I have worn most over the last 2 years. I don't take particular care in protecting it, but it polishes up beautifully. The sapphire crystal is scratch free with only minor brush like scratches on the clasp.
I bought it because of its promised durability and have not been the least bit disappointed. A great long term daily wear watch. Update Sept 2010 Finally had to replace the battery last year. 5+ is not bad. Problem was that a local jeweler replaced the battery and must have broken the contact off ad it ran only 2 weeks and stopped altogether. Had to send back to factory for refurb and cleaniing, which cost 330.00!!! Yikes! But it is now back on my arm daily.

1 year, 4 movements,
By But I'm pretty confident I'll be back there again soon. I've not mistreated the watch in any way: the worst it's had to endure have been showers and roadbike rides. The only conclusion that can be drawn from 4 identical failures in one year is that this is a seriously flawed product. Even if the next movement seems to work, I'd never risk taking it on holiday without another watch as backup - which is normal for cameras, say, but ridiculous for watches!

not water resistant,
By Carlos (Florida) - See all my reviews I did not scuba dive, I did not press the buttons underwater, but water entered my watch! Was a defect of my copy? NO! It's just that there is one more thing they OMITTED! I couldn't have diven my watch AT ALL. I dived it 1 meter unterwater, and now it's damaged. (although it's written "water resist 30m" on the watch). What the seller said to me? He said "when it's written 'water resist 30m', you can hardly wash your hand with the watch, but never go underwater!". This seems to me like a Monty Python thing... "When it's written A, you must undestand B! Apart from that it's all normal" The problem was that in this case, the idiot was me! I ask the smart guys from Tissot: "Why the h...they put a sign not to press the buttons underwater, when I can't go underwater AT ALL?". I also wrote an email to Tissot. No response, obviously. |
