This is my first set of vise grips, and they are a great set. They have a sturdy construction, and they grip very tightly. I only needed 1 locking plier, but I decided that the price of this set is a good value since you get 5.

These may not have quite the same snot as a set of Irwin Vise Grips, but they are NOTHING like the junk that typically comes in from China - you know which ones I mean! These pliers have good jaws, lots of grab, and the locking mechanism stays locked. They're a terrific deal at $20-$25 for the set. Of course, with the covered grips, you won't be whacking these with a hammer, so if that's what you're planning, get the Irwin's. Otherwise, as a 'hand' tool, these do a great job. I just used them to remove some uncooperative caliper bolts, and since they were already dirty, I used them to remove some rusted tie rod sleeves and stabilizer links.

Soft grip handles are a plus. Good quality comparable/on par with others maybe better.@ $6 a plier not bad at all. Made in China no surprise here.
