The leaf drops back down when not in use. The entire unit, with its heavy-duty locking casters, moves easily to make kitchen cleaning a breeze; lock the casters in place for stationary use. Assembly Required.Products offered by Catskill Craftsmen are made from naturally self-sustaining, non-endangered North American hardwoods, primarily birch and hard rock maple. Lumber is purchased from area sawmills, then dried, manufactured, and packaged on site. All sawdust, shavings and waste materials generated during the manufacturing process is converted into wood pellet fuel, and used to heat homes. Catskill Craftsmen operations generate no wood waste.

This turned out to be a very nice cabinet, worthy of a place in our kitchen. All but the two side panels were made of solid cut wood with nice grains. None of the pieces were damaged in shipment. Three large flat boxes containing the wood pieces, shipped by UPS.
Assembly- took a solid eight hours. Two steps forward, one step back. The first two/3 steps of the instructions are vague if not misleading on the placement of various pieces, so that later on one finds out that holes don't line up. Take everything apart, reassemble. I reassembled the front panel three times, the back panel twice. The supplied screws were not of the hardest steel, so their heads began to strip out after a couple assemblies. There are a couple small gaps where the wood would just not line up correctly using the cam lock fasteners. The drawers guides were very hard to realign since none of the holes were in correct position- all new holes had to be measured and placed. I still need to go back and adjust a couple drawers, as they began to rub the lower drawer once filled with items. The butcher block top is very nice and good quality. We removed the wheels to lower the entire cabinet, so that it could be placed closer to an existing island counter. All in all very nice, and if I had to do it all over (8 hours in the furniture factory) I'd do it again, though reluctantly. The piece is solid heavy at 157 pounds and does not look cheap in any way. Five stars...
