5.0 out of 5 stars Bitter reviewers tear down the CD to prove their stupidity., November 18, 2000
This review is from: Titan A.E.: Music From The Motion Picture (2000 Film) (Audio CD)
Don't listen to what the bitter reviewers think, listen to the CD yourself, I assure you, you won't be disappointed. A wide range of styles and songs has been compiled to fully accent the movie, and that's why the CD appeals to a wide audience.

From the slow bittersweetness of the song, "Like Lovers" by Texas to the stronger alternative song by Electrasy, "Cosmic Castaway", the CD doesn't disappoint. The lyrics fit so well to the movie it's downright eerie. This is true for nearly all of the songs on the album, and the arrangements of the music complement the moods of the lyrics perfectly.

Plenty of imagery in the music on this CD. If you've seen the movie, scenes are conjured up as the music plays. Akima's song, "Like Lovers", truly amazes while Cale's theme, the triumphant alternative rock song, "It's My Turn To Fly" by The Urge, makes us feel as Cale does as he proves he was born to the stars as he races 'wake angels' through space.

Folks, you don't want to pass this one up. Trust me. Listen to it for yourself and see how truly spectacular this soundtrack is.

5.0 out of 5 stars One Word: Awesome!!!, August 21, 2000
By
This review is from: Titan A.E.: Music From The Motion Picture (2000 Film) (Audio CD)
I've seen Titan A.E. eleven times(!), and it is my favorite animated film. I of course also just HAD to get the soundtrack! It is amazing, with a great mix of songs that is sure to have something for everyone. If you are merely impressed because of the bands and variety Fox has given us, the songs will have much more meaning after you've seen the film. It is excellent and each song fits the mood of the scene it is in.

*WARNING* *The following contains spoilers!!!*

All of these songs are in the film (contrary to what some reveiwers believe). The awesome Cosmic Castaway plays during the scene when we first see Cale full grown, and an outcast in the alien-dominated salvage station, Tau-14. The catchy Everything Under the Stars and funky Everybody's going to the Moon play in the backround during the cafeteria scenes. The End is Over, a fast-and-loud metal song, booms during the dangerous chase in which Cale and Korso flee the drej drones, setting the mood for danger, and the fact that Cale is leaving behind his boring salvage life to start his wild adventure to find the Titan. Come Back Down to Earth plays as Cale awakens after passing out, only to stare into the blurry face of the independent and beautiful pilot Akima (he must've thought he was in heaven, and the song beckoned him to "come back down to earth"). Renegade Survivor, an upbeat reggae tune, plays while the characters are on Sesharrim, while Gune and Preed are fooling around back at Korso's ship (meanwhile Stith and the humans are off on a frantic chase). The mystical-sounding Karma Slave (well ten seconds of it, anyways),plays while Korso, Stith, and Preed track Akima through the slave trader ship Soros. It's My Turn to Fly, and amazingly inspirational and uplifting song, fills the backround of the best scene in the entire movie, where Cale stunt-flies the Valkyrie through the pulsating, crackling nebula, followed by the iridescent and dolphin-like wake angels. Like Lovers (Holding On) plays briefly as Cale enters Akima's cabin after a bad dream, and gazes at her collection of old "Earth Junk". Over My Head, possibly one of the best tracks on the CD, plays while Cale, Akima, and the Drifter Colonists cooperate together to repair the Phoenix, a broken-down old ship the the two protagonists need to sucessfully find the Titan before the drej, and a betraying friend, get there first. Finally, over the credits after New Earth (aka Planet Bob!), is created, and humanity has its new home, Not Quite Paradise is played over the credits, which is also a favorite of mine (Like Lovers plays in its entirety over the credits as well).

*No more Spoilers after this!*

While listening to this awesome soundtrack, a fan as crazy about Titan A.E. as I am, can relive the film. In fact, the A.E. soundtrack is my only survival tool until the film is released on video *grins*. Whether you are a crazed phsyco fan of Titan, a person who liked the movie, or just a fan of great, memorable rock music, you'll love the CD.

And yes, please give us a second CD with the score on it 20th Century Fox!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars a very eclectic mix -- no one will like every song, June 19, 2000
This review is from: Titan A.E.: Music From The Motion Picture (2000 Film) (Audio CD)
I bought the soundtrack after seeing the movie and being taken by the alternative rock songs in it. To my disappointment, this cd has not just rock, but rap, reggae, and other styles. The end result is a mixed bag - it's definitely not a disc that anyone will play straight thru. The reason I still give it 4 stars, however is because there are at least 6 songs I like, and 2 I think are modern classics (Cosmic Castaway, and Not Quite Paradise are worth the $). Having said that, I restate that this cd will disappoint overall, but if you liked the songs actually in the movie (the rock songs) you have to have it.
