I ordered this book and model for my nine year old son who is very interested in the Titanic. I loved the book with its factual information and vivid pictures but what impressed me the most was the quality of the plastic model that accompanied the book. It was simple to put together and prepainted ( thank goodness!!) and was not flimsy when once built. I liked that it could be left intact or shown how it broke apart during its sinking. This book and model is definetly well worth the price and I commend the manufacturers. I finally received something I feel was well worth the money I paid for it.

Titanic Book and Toy,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Titanic Book and Submersible Model (Misc. Supplies)
My seven year old son is very intrigued by Titanic and this book and especially the toy was a huge hit. It actually splits apart and sinks and can be re-enacted over and over. It is a great bath toy for an older child. It's hard to get him out of the tub and I know it will be great in pool also. One of the best toys he has ever received. It will also be a nice shelf item for his room as he get older.

An excellent educational package!,
This review is from: The Titanic Book and Submersible Model (Misc. Supplies)
Being a big Titanic buff, I bought this item for myself. The book was very informative, although aimed more at a child rather then adult. The prepainted model went together quickly and I sank it several times in the bathtub. Outside of the Cameron movie, this is an excellent method of demonstrating to youngsters just how the great ship broke apart and went down. I'd highly recommend this item for my fellow TITANIC enthusiasts to introduce youngsters to the story behind the ship and the disaster that claimed her and 1,500 souls

I love this thing, and so does my Titanic fanatic 5 yr old son. When playing Titanic in the tub, he was always enacting the sinking part, which he was very particular about, insisting that the stern goes up, then it breaks in two, then the back spins around, and sinks as the front sinks as well. When I saw this item, I just had to get it. And I wasn't disappointed at all. It's a very detailed, hand painted model, and simple to assemble. The mechanism is ingenious. The two halves fasten together well, and the boat will float. To activate the sinking, you slide a lever, which opens a simulated gash in the hull, right at the proper spot. This allows the water in, which floats a plastic float attached in a see-saw manner to a latch. When the water reaches a certain level, it trips the latch and the two halves fall apart, complete with jagged breaks! If you have a child who is into the Titanic, or even if you're a Titanic buff yourself, you'll love this! The book is helpful and very well done to boot!

Cannot pry the model out of my children's hands...,

My sons are 3 1/2 & 6 years old. They are somewhat obsessed right now. The Titanic: Book and Submersible Model was the surprise hit of Christmas morning, so much so that I purchased another on the 26th for the older boy to avoid all the arguing over taking turns "sinking" her. The book is of high quality & very informative. The model is sturdy enough that the boys have been sleeping with theirs, and will look great upon the shelf someday. It sinks JUST LIKE the real ship, again & again, which constantly amazes me. If your kids balk at taking baths, this model will get them (& keep them) in the tub. Well done!

I couldn't resist adding this to my collection, but was expecting to be disappointed. I was not. The design is ingenious and the model well built. The only let down is that she sinks better than she floats... perhaps larger bilge keels could prevent such horrific lists! Be warned, too: it takes a LOT of water to get the full affect. Most bath tubs won't do it justice. A must have for Titanic fans!

I always wanted a Titanic toy that had the detail of a model. This toy granted my wish. It is an easy model to assemble & is fun to use once completed. I also use it on the carpet to play in addition to the bathtub. If you or your child loves the Titanic, GET THIS!!!!! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!

My son had to do a report on the Titanic. I thought I knew a lot about it, but this book is full of interesting facts and diagrams that taught my husband and I a few things! Of course, the model was my son's favorite part, and I have to agree that it's fantastic! The scale model is 16 inches long, pre-painted, and has 19 accessories. It floats in the tub, you slide a switch on the bottom, and a jagged gash opens where it got "hit" by the iceburg. The hull then begins to sink, and the ship splits in two and both pieces "plunge" to the bottom. You can do this over and over again. My kids still haven't tired of it, and I'll probably be ordering another one for his younger brother. Needless to say, this was a BIG hit with my son's class. He was proud of his demonstration, and I think it motivated him to work a little harder on his report. I recommend this product without reservation.

I purchased this for my 5-year old son who LOVES everything about the Titanic, the book was great, he read it in just a couple of days and learned alot. It has a lot of good information about the Titanic, the whole family learned something. The model is great, even for his younger brother. Great in the tub or pool. It was easy to put together. My kids loved it so much I am ordering another to send to a friend's child who is also interested in the Titanic.
