3.0 out of 5 stars Titanic's screenplay, the only Oscar the film didn't win !!!
Everyone says Titanic isn't a good movie. I won't deny that it is an entertaining, very good film. However, it's strength doesn't lie in it's screenplay and I would only recommend it to very strong fans of the movie. Cameron has obviously gone overboard with the effects and forget that story makes all the difference. Want to read a truly great screenplay from 1997: try...

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, Informative . . ., January 27, 2001

This review is from: Titanic: James Cameron's Illustrated Screenplay (Paperback)
This is the ultimate book for any fan of James Cameron, movie junkies, or the movie "Titanic" to own. As a fan of all three, I absolutely cherish this book. It contains vivid photographs, the entire screenplay--including highlights of scenes cut from the script, scenes filmed but cut from the final production, and scenes and lines added to the movie that weren't even in the script.

For instance, the script's original ending is entirely different than the ending in the movie, but if you want to know, you have to buy the book. Originally, Fabrizio's death scene was different as well, and there was a scene cut from the movie of him saying goodbye to his girlfriend Helga. The book includes pictures of most of these scenes.

The book also contains commentary about certain aspects of the over-all production of the film. It's a very fascinating book that any fan of the movie will adore. It deserves 5+ stars, in my opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars The REAL Titanic, February 9, 2000

This review is from: Titanic: James Cameron's Illustrated Screenplay (Paperback)
This book far exceeded my expectations! A must buy for ANY Titanic enthusiast. The pictures inside are extroadinary-they include lost scenes from the gymnasium and ones including Mr and Mrs Strauss. I kept on wondering why some powerful scenes were cut from the final film as I read, but you can decide for yourself. The lost scenes also explain a helluva lot. Also it contains the REAL ending that was cut for budget purposes....

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book for fans of the Movie!, January 30, 2004

If you are a fan of the movie "Titanic", I would have to say that you would be crazy not to own this screenplay! It's illustrated with tons of pictures from the movie, which alone would be worth it. But it also shows deleted scenes and lines that weren't in the final cut for the movie. I had a great time, looking through the book and finding all the things that were different from the movie! It also gives good information on behind-the-scenes action, even about ad-libs the actors had. You would be surprised at what they were! I found this book to be even better than "James Cameron's Titanic" even though that was good, also. But if your a true fan, this should definately be a book in your collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Keepsake, April 12, 2000
This review is from: Titanic: James Cameron's Illustrated Screenplay (Paperback)
This has to be one of the most beautifully presented books I own and is a wonderful keepsake of a record breaking movie. It is jam packed with superb photos on good quality paper. It was also interesting to read a real "screenplay" with all the deletions (which are interesting to find out about), ad libs by the cast, moving of scenes etc. I really enjoyed this movie and reading the script brings the movie to life in a different but totally absorbing way. If you are a fan of the movie you will like this book. If you are studying film or screen writing this book may also be helpful to show dialogue, interpretation of scenes from written word to celluloid and how changes can be made during the filming of a project!

5.0 out of 5 stars SO MUCH MORE TO KNOW!, January 13, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Titanic: James Cameron's Illustrated Screenplay (Paperback)
Titanic: The Illustated Screenplay was insightful and a fun read. There is so much more to know about this One billion dollar epic than just whats on the screen. There were countless deleted lines and scenes. In fact, the ening is very strange compared to the on you see on screen. Overall, this is a great book. Pictures, and exclusive James Cameron interview, how shots were made, and the FULL shooting script. What more can you ask for? If your a movie buff, or just a fan of the movie, this is the one you're looking for. GET IT!

This review is from: Titanic: James Cameron's Illustrated Screenplay (Paperback)
This is the most awesome book for anyone who is a Titanic movie fanatic!! It is the script in entirety, with the dialogue, the actions, the cutting from one scene to another. It includes a great deal of things "deleted" from the script, changes made, etc. And it has the most beautiful collection of photographs in any book I have seen. 300 to be exact! I can't say enough about this one....If you can't get enough of the movie...Get this book!!

This review is from: Titanic: James Cameron's Illustrated Screenplay (Paperback)
"Titanic: James Cameron's Illustrated Screenplay" captures all the nuances of the script that made such a popular movie, while including notes by Randall Flakes as to what was deleted, what was edited, and even what lines were spoken differently. The script is a fascinating read all by itself, but what makes this book so interesting are the vast array of color photographs and images that permeate the pages, giving us a glimpse of each scene is beautiful color. With this wonderful tome, it's easy to see why the movie gained so much popularity, and this is a book that will be treasured for many generations to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars Did you see this movie? You have to buy this book!, March 9, 2000

Like some other people said it's like watching the movie when you read this book. I ordered it 4 months ago after reading here all the recommendations about it, and they're true. It's realy worth the money. There are a lot of pictures from the film but also those scens who've been cut out of the film. You can peek behind the scenes, wich I think is great. And James and the actors tell their experiences while filming. I just haven't got words to describe it, you have to see for yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for Titanic fans, February 24, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Titanic: James Cameron's Illustrated Screenplay (Paperback)
I bought this book along with "James Cameron's Titanic" after seeing the video for the first time a few weeks ago. Although "James Cameron's Titanic" offers more insight into how the movie was made, I find myself returning to this book more often. It is so enjoyable to read the screenplay, to re-read my favorite scenes, and to read those lines that I missed in the movie. It is also fascinating to see how scenes get rewritten or land on the cutting room floor after being shot. This was a wonderful book and I would highly recommend it to any Titanic fan.
