SHORT BUT WELL WRITTEN,
By
This review is from: Titanic (Hardcover)
I think we all can agree there is a glut of books on Titanic. So far I have seen books on everything from the iceberg's history to cookbooks taken from Titanic's menus. With that in mind, one should always be careful when selecting a book on the subject.Bonsall's work covers the history of Titanic and her two sisters, Olympic and Brittanic. It is very short, but well written and interesting even to someone with extensive knowledge of the ships. The jacket describes Bonsall as a top historian and the writing would seem to justify this description. I found the chapter on the Titanic inquiry to be especially good. The illustrations and photographs are excellent as well.

TITANIC, Britannic, and Olympic History,
By Shaun A. Salchli (United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Titanic (Hardcover)
An excellent book for any Titanic historian. Also the book reveals the history of Titanic's owner White Star Line. Also gives a history of Titanic's other sister ships Olympic, and Britannic. In my opinion an excellent book to read over and over.

Yet another Titanic book,
By A Customer
This review is from: Titanic (Hardcover)
This book would be more accurately titled "Olympic, Britannic, and, by the way, Titanic". It is a large, handsome book, with all of the usual photographs well-reproduced, along with some that are seen less often. Much of the book is spent on the stories of the Titanic's sister ships, Olympic and Britannic. Not the book to buy if you are only going to buy one Titanic book, but it stays in my collection of twenty or so.

The Titanic and its short, tragic history,
By
This review is from: Titanic (Hardcover)
For those looking for a sober and well-researched account of the Titanic and what led up to the tragedy, Titanic is a good place to start. While its examination of the sinking itself is relatively brief, the book does a good job of describing Titanic's history and place in the White Star Line and what happened to many of its sister ships. The text is densely packed with detail, copies of documents, quotes from some of the excessively macho language describing the virtues of the ships, and many old photos. The book is a good introducation to the story of the Titanic and the imperial attitudes that contributed to its speedy demise.

A Titanic buff from Seattle,

This review is from: Titanic (Hardcover)
Plenty of pictures of the Olympic, Titanic and Britannic make this book a worthy addition to one's bookcase or collection. I wouldn't recommend it though if one want an "in depth" account of the Titanic disaster, as this book only provides a general overview of such.
