Product Description

Titanium MD-1600L Ni-MH AA/AAA Smart Fast Battery Charger:
The Titanium MD-1600L is the ultimate battery charging station. Now you can charge sixteen Ni-MH AA or AAA batteries at the same time!
This elegant charger has a clean design and though it charges 16 batteries, it is still compact enough to thrown in your suitcase or bag when
traveling.

Integrated USB ports help unclutter your digital life; now you can plug in your portable MP3 players, phones, iPods and iPhones into the charger's
USB ports. Charge on the go using the include 12V car plug adapter.

State of the Art Features:
Backlit LCD indicates charge level Integrated Battery Conditioning; discharge and charges your batteries at the press of a button restoring your
batteries to their optimal condition and eliminating any memory effect. Micro Pulse Charging ensures the fastest, coolest and most efficient possible
charge enhancing battery life.

Sixteen Independent Charge Channels:
The MD-1600L is a sixteen channel charger, so each bay has a circuit dedicated to monitoring the battery it charges. The smart circuitry will detect
when the battery is charged and automatically switches to a trickle charge. This intelligence keeps your batteries from getting overheated while
charging, which maximizes the life of your cells. This also allows you to charge a mixture of batteries at the same time, from AAs to AAAs, all of which
can have a different charge state.

LCD Charge Status Display:
Have you ever used a charger that had LEDs to indicate the charge status? If so, then you know how frustrating it can be figuring out what it means
when the light is solid, blinking, red, or green. The MD-1600L has easy to-read LCD screens with indigo backlights that show you a battery icon for
each cell. Each channel is represented by its own battery icon made up 4 "bars" that indicate charge percentage (25/50/75/100%).

This charger is great in that it can charge from 1 to 16 batteries at a time.

What I do like is the USB port, the car charger, and that you can charge batteries fast seeing when they are finished.

I am thinking to buy another one to keep 32 batteries in ready-to-use condition.

Well, like the first review, I was wondering how good (or not good) this charger was going to be. I had debated on a Maha, but was all ready disappointed from my CF-401 4 cell chargers. I needed something that I could keep at the house or travel with as I have four kids plus my RC cars. I didn't need a less than 2 hour charger as most know the speed chargers fry the batteries and cut their charging life in half. So, after seeing the video on you tube that the first reviewer put up I was sold on giving this one a try.
I like that this one holds 16 batteries, double any other competitor. It does have a solid feel and is not even as wide as a standard 14" laptop. It discharges and charges exceptionally well as I have seen an improvement in some of my older batteries that were on their way to the trash (even with the Maha charger). I have charged/discharged 2000 mAh Eneloops, 1800 mAh Energizers, 2000 and 2450 mAh Duracells and 2700 mAh PowerEx with no issues. I like the display as I feel it is informative. If you are looking for an ultra fast charger, this isn't it. It uses pulse charging so the batteries never get hot. The current in is a nice DC 2.1A that supplies 400mA for AA and 180mA for the AAA. I included charging times from the manual. I first saw this on Battery Junction, but no reviews. After getting this MD-1600L Smart charger and liking it considerably, I will not be so hesitant about ordering another or the M-8800 Titanium 8 Cell smart charger. Hopefully I can find that here at Battery Junction, but if not I will go to their site directly. Hope this review helps those who were hesitant like I was.

Charging Times:
Capacity Type Ni-Mh 1-16 Cells
850 mAh AAA Approximately 4.7 Hours
1000 mAh AAA Approximately 5.6 Hours
2000 mAh AA Approximately 5 Hours
2500 mAh AA Approximately 6.3 Hours
2700 mAh AA Approximately 6.8 Hours

Ok well I order the charger and was not 100% sold on it when I ordered it do to the fact that there is very little info and no reviews on it anywhere I looked, but never the less I needed a huge charger and this was the nicest looking one, at the right price, that held 16 batteries at a time. (I'm a photographer and I have a ton of AA batteries to charge for my flash) When I received it my first thought was that it has very nice build quality (it feels solid not cheap). And for being a 16 battery charger its not as big as I thought it would be. I immediately plugged it in and started discharging all of my first set of AAs to test the conditioning of the charger and it worked well, a lill slower then I would have liked but well. (it discharged and charged them over night with no problems at all). I at this point have ran a little over 10 sets doing the same thing discharge first (then it automatically charges them) with no issues with temp or faulty charge readings.

Now the reason I give it 4 stars and not 5, well I like it but the displays do not give out info like I thought it would have. They just show a little batteries that flash showing you what the charger is doing. (if its discharging batteries on the displays flash as it they where being drained in a down ward motion and when charging they got up and flash to the point of where they are in the charge by quarters) Other then this I love the charger and I'm going to be ordering one more very soon.

I am glad I took a chance on it, well worth the money.

Like the other reviewer, I was skeptical about this charger since there were no reviews and the price seemed low, especially compared to the Maha charger Maha Powerex MH-C801D Eight Cell 1-Hr PRO AA/AAA Charger that charged fewer batteries than this one. Ironically, the Maha charger ended up being the one that I was disappointed with and this became my go to charger. I even consider it more portable than the Maha since it's skinnier and it's transformer is much smaller (although it is slightly longer).

Again, I can only speak for charging eneloop XX batteries (I use the for professional photography), but this charger does the job great. I agree that the display could be a tiny bit better, but as far as I'm concerned, for the price, capacity (16 batteries) and efficient design, it is well deserving of 5 stars. Especially, when comparing it to other chargers on the market.

I really like the design and defaults of this charger. Unfortunately upon first use it heated up, began to smell like burnt wiring then malfunctioned and became inoperable. On the plus side it seems to have shut itself down before creating a fire. I like the design well enough that I will give it another try (which I usually would not since I hate the hassle of returning stuff by mail)If the next one holds up I will consider it a fluke and report back here
*** Update 5/17/12: As promised I am back with a review of replacement unit but first more info on the original problem. When I recived the first unit mentioned above I filled it with 8 aa's and 8 aaa's, after filling each 4 battery section I pressed the green button for that section to discharge batteries before charge. display indicated correctly the function for each bay, I did notice after a couple hours there was a hot spot toward one end of the charger. Do not mistake this for the normal warmth that is felt during operation, it was much hotter then the rest of the charger in one small area, hot enough to concern me but I waited to see what would happen. Eventually the charger shut itself down and the display was flashing in an abnormal way. I'm glad it malfunctioned and quit as I would have been unhappy using it the way it had heated up. I returned it and ordered another and Amazon took care of it in their usual no hassle way.
*** On to the new unit: I recieved a replacement unit and immediately repeated the same steps and loaded the same batteries as the first time. I am pleased to report that the first cycle has completed without any problem. No hotspots or other issues.
