Titles and Idols is the Real Thing!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Titles & Idols (Audio CD)
How did Studio K7 ever sign a singer of Beth Hirsch's ilk to their label? (She is different from Ursula RuckerrSister Superstar or Herbert). But whoever did was a genius in taking such a far out stretch for that record label, but the results are marvelous.Where "Moon Safari: leaves off - Hirsch continues with "Titles and Idols". She intersperses her beautiful vocals with meaningful lyrics making this album a joy to listen to. Unlike her initial album, which was acoustical, this CD is backed by talented producers who delve into techno and progressive sounds. Black Dog (AKA Ken Downie), Custom Blue and Jackson from Paris add their creative abilities complementing but never overshadowing Hirsch's light sensual voice "Next sensation and "Nigel and Fiona" (which is a better love song then "All I Need" are the most "Air-like" of this album). Hirsch tries a different path with the title track "Titles and Idols" She is deftly philosophical with her lyrics - finding some answers to the perplexing question of our day. I feel her lyrics are a strong point. You must listen carefully to find her subtle nuances and meanings to her songs. ... but I think it will probably be one of the best Trip Hop CD's of the year.

WHEN WILL WE SEE YOU????,

This review is from: Titles & Idols (Audio CD)
The lady can chill.Beth Hirsch, one of my favorite singers,is on the of being BIG.She is forever being compared to Beth Orton or to Joni Mitchel. Her voice is much more sultry. Her music and lyrics while lacking some of the punch of Joni Mitchel is true to todays dilemmas and joys."Idols and Titles"has the unique musical talents of Black Dog and Custom Blue. They present an interesting array of musical backgrounds-complimenting but never overpowering Ms Hirsch's soft melodic tones. The resuling album is a GEM.The only problem is she never tours. She should be great.

!K7 has a real winnerwith the new Hirsch album, "Titles & Idols".Captain Daylight lyrics hit us all! Tears with "Until I Met You".Hirsch's grasp of life is resonant poetry. background wonderfully haunting and complimentary-great harmony with her voice. Best mix yet for her. Blending Bluesound/Blackdog/ Jackson is spectacular.Need more of this pipeline to our emotions from Hirsch. Highly recommend this album for a quiet evening with your preferred partner & glasses of a favorite beverage!

Beth Hirsch - Titles And Idols,
This review is from: Titles & Idols (Audio CD)
Beth Hirsch, folk chanteuse, dips once more into the electronic pool. Having previously worked with Bang Bang and Air, she now turns to The Black Dog and Bluesound to provide the atmosphere, and do they ever. The Black Dog help craft "I Know Why" into an enigmatic stunner, "Nest Sensation" into a sexily angular, "Until I Met You" into a romance with machines, and "Who Said" into a simple and gentle heartbreaker. Bluesound take a more traditional downtempo approach, but their results are no less impressive: "Ordinary Life" hums with quiet sadness, while "Titles and Idols" swirls around itself. "Hindsight" sings with beauty. An album that shows how limitless electronic music is and how well it complements different styles of music.
