One of the greatest shows ever comes to an end,
By
This review is from: Titus - Season 3 (DVD)
While some may say that this season lacked, I disagree strongly. This was a great show, and was pulled off because of going over the edge, which I love. Better that it ended being hilarious and extreme, than getting dull and lifeless.

Capstone To A Perfect Series,

This review is from: Titus - Season 3 (DVD)
Season three of "Titus" is the darkest, but the best, of the three. The show was extraordinary and daring in the exploration of taboo and politically incorrect subjects, and while it was a shame it ended after only three seasons, the entire package when seen as a whole (especially when seen in order) is perfect. While I had always been disappointed about the cancellation, the bonus interview with Zack Ward (who is much smarter than "Dave") had the insight about the perfect whole, and I think he is right: the show ended on a high note, and will always be looked at positively in retrospect, unlike many shows that live on past their prime.
The third season deals with the darkest of all possible subjects, taken largely from Christopher Titus' own life. Most difficult is the subject of his mother's insanity and suicide, and coming to terms with the fears that it may be genetic. The episode "Tommy's Not Gay" is also extremely powerful (especially the black and white segments,) but for me the most difficult episode was the final episode "The Protector" which deals with child abuse. While I was never abused, I have seen the aftermath. It is a tragedy of the highest magnitude, and the manner in which "Titus" dealt with it in the final episode is both a cautionary tale to parents and other "protectors" and an indictment of abusers. I thought the resolution in that episode was absolutely perfect: seeing the principal finally allied for good with the ones he was charged to protect was a stunning moment of moral clarity. Heavy stuff, this, but important to see. "Titus" is an extremely unconventional show, but a show with extreme merit. I can't recommend this series enough.

Titus - The (unfortunately) Final Season,

This review is from: Titus - Season 3 (DVD)
The third season of Titus brought some major laughs, as well as some daring, thought-provoking episodes. The laughs, as usual, came from an excellent comedy team, though I personally look forward to Stacy Keach's performance as the devilishly drunk womanizer Ken Titus, and his sadistic one-liners, though in one episode, the tables are turned on him by his equally sadistic mother, played by Phyllis Diller. Other daring episodes include "The Protector", where the guys find out that Erin's niece Amy was molested as a child and take steps to help her on the road to recovery.
Other daring episodes include "Tommy's Not Gay", where his father comes out of the closet, and "The Visit", where Titus' mother returns . . . well, I don't want to give everything away, in case you haven't seen it yourself. I'm eager to add this set to my DVD collection, and plan to spend my down time watching Titus, instead of some trashy reality show. Do you prefer quality, or garbage?

THE FUNNIEST SHOW NOBODY HAS HEARD OF!,

This review is from: Titus - Season 3 (DVD)
A very unique show but killed off for that very reason. The interview with Stacy Keach will vouch for that(in the bonus materials). I think it's very likely it was taken off the air due to the plot of the 2 part episode. There will never be another show like this one. Taking the darkest moments in life(or family) and turning it into 22 hillarious minutes. Season 3 went to more extremes, and on occassion a bit dramatic, than the previous seasons and also some new characters are introduced(Titus' sister & Grandmother, Tommy's Dad, etc). Both DVD sets are worth buying if you are NOT easily offended. If you think shows like SEINFELD and THAT 70s SHOW are edgy, then you have never seen one single episode of TITUS. Great show. It's too bad Fox took it off the air. The interviews with the cast are the best I've seen for a TV show dvd(but where was the actor who played Tommy? MIA) and there are also about 27 minutes worth of bloopers & outtakes from all 3 seasons to watch that are not mentioned on the back of the DVD. That was nice little surprise... but be prepared for a lot of foul language! The commentaries are also fun to listen to. Highly recommended DVD. If you own the previous DVD set, then Season 3 is a no brainer. You may start laughing hillariously now.... "Err!"

Titus is one of the few comical series which deals with issues that most won't touch. It is considered to be very politically INCORRECT, dealing with sexist, raceist, and contraversial issues, thus making it an instant classic (like, "All in The Familly"). If you're teatering on the decision of purchasing, keep one thing in mind...these episodes have great reply value. There are so many laughs in each episode that you cann't possibly remember them all, without rewatching it again and again. Do yourself a favor and get it, watch it, buy it, rent it, borrow it, steal it...or whatever, but definaly watch it.

I just looked at the other reviews for this season, and everybody gave it 5 stars. Wonder why? Oh, right - it's the best show out there, it's the only comedy show I can stand, and it got canceled.
Ok, so this is season 3, presumably you already watched seasons 1 & 2 and know the basic premise. And if you watched seasons 1 & 2 and you're looking at the Amazon for season 3, you liked it, right? So, what's the hold up? Far as I'm concerned this show is brilliant. In a twisted way I'm sort of glad it got canceled - I mean, most stuff you keep around too long starts to smell; at least this way it got killed while it was fresh. Ok, so that's just me trying to make it bearable; yet another show I love canceled in it's prime. Oh, the humanity! Anyways, it's terrific, it's not some dumb whiney pathetic comedy, it has teeth and wit. And fire. Fire is always nice... matches... paper... mmmm...... Sorry, where was I?

The Final Season Of Titus,
By
This review is from: Titus - Season 3 (DVD)
After this season, FOX decided to cancel one of the funniest series ever to come along. This season of Titus marks the shows maturity into a truly genius work of art. The previous two seasons are hillariously funny mixing in numerous cartoon style cut-to's a la Family Guy and The Simpsons. Stacey Keach provides many of the laugh-out-loud moments of the show in these cut aways.
The third season pushes the envelope more than the first two seasons did combined. This season of the show hits you with many hilariously funny jokes and then provides many serious and provocative moments regarding homosexuality, suicide, molestation, etc. This season is darker, but the genius comes out of that. The formula for the third season of Titus is raw, hilarious, touching, and distressing all at the same time. The show about Titus' mom is a perfect example. I won't ruin it for those who haven't seen it, but those of you who have seen it know what I mean. It's really hard to explain to those who haven't seen the show. There truly has never been a show before or since that can think of that is like Titus. I don't want to make it sound like the show is dreary because it isn't. It's funny, but also insightful. The season contains 21 episodes: 01 Racing In The Streets: Titus, still recovering from his drag racing accident, decides to street race for money. Erin tries to stop him 02 Amy's Birthday: Erin throws her neice Amy a surprise party. After seeing how Amy's living, Erin tries to fix the problem. 03 Tommy's Not Gay: Tommy reveals shocking news: His father is gay. Titus tries to mend the father-son relationship and also get back at two guys who assualted Tommy's father. 04 Shannon's Song: Titus' sister Shannon (Elizabeth Berkely) shows up from Africa and quickly grabs everyones attention...away from Titus. 05 Grad School: Erin interns as a social worker, but quickly gets in over her head. 06 Houseboat: Erin wants to bring the spirit of Christmas to Christopher's father, Ken Titus. They decide a houseboat is the best place to corner Ken, but Chistopher finds it the perfect opportunity to get revenge on his father 07 The Trial: Titus' mother, Juanita, is on trial for killing her abusive boyfriend at Erin and Christopher's wedding. Titus fights to save his mother from being found guilty. 08 Grandma Titus: Titus' grandmother (Phyllis Diller), affected by Alzheimer's, shows up at a high school. Titus is called to deal with the situation which is only hampered by the fact that he thought she was dead. 09 Errrr: Trying to stop Amy from committing suicide, Titus recalls the story of he and Erin's first disastorous meeting. 10 Tommy's Crush: Tommy and Titus' sister Shannon have an affair 11 Into Thin Air: On a ski trip, Titus tells Dave his girlfriend is cheating on him. Both end up stranded on a cliff, but Titus wants Dave to become a man and save himself. 12 Too Damn Good: a Ford representative (Frankie Muniz) pays Titus to design a car, but he has a mental block...his father 13 Bachelor Party: On the way to a bachelor party in Las Vegas, Titus runs into a rural diner and a pregnant woman. 14 Hot Streak: Wanting his father's respect, Titus brings him to the Bahamas along with Tommy, Dave, and Erin. Titus doesn't know what to do when Ken has a heart attack while enjoying his favorite things: gambling, smoking, and drinking, all at the same time. 15 The Session: Erin drags Titus to family therapy. Things quickly go awry 16 Same Courtesy: Titus plots his revenge for being embarassed at the therapy session 17 After Mrs. Shafter: Ken is after Tommy's mom, much to the horror of Tommy. 18 The Visit: Titus and Erin's plans to adopt Amy are turned upside down when both the social worker and Titus's mother, whose says she's just killed again, show up at the same time. 19 Insanity Genetic Pt. 1: While aboard an airplane, Titus wonders if his mother's insanity might be genetic. 20 Insanity Genetic Pt. 2: The incident onboard the airplane leaves Titus with the prospect of going to jail or being committed 21 Protector: Titus seeks out a kid who's been harassing Amy It's a shame the show got canceled. Few shows actually make me laugh out loud. Titus was one of them. It was a breath of fresh air from all the crap that's on TV. I wish it was still here, but at least we finally have the DVDs to enjoy. Stacey Keach deserves a round of applause for portraying one of the funniest characters I've ever seen. Bow down to Titus. Thanks for the laughs

The third season goes where it turns out Fox feared to tread. It's great, great stuff, but kind of weird to watch now that we're hearing that the real life Erin was a lying cheating abusive whore who robbed him blind and then accused Christopher of abuse in court to beat the no-fault clause. It's also sad to hear that his real sister committed suicide, just like his mom. After this, get Love is Evol and find out how to get up after a life that would finish most of us off and get on with it, because "You don't get a rebate." Go with God, Christopher, and many thanks.Christopher Titus: Love is Evol
