In their build up towards Bound for Glory, TNA hosted two events that served to build story lines and wrestlers' momentum towards their biggest show of the year. During both of these events, TNA relied on the BFG series to form many of the feuds going into the shows with the ultimate winner going to Bound for Glory to face the TNA Champion.

"Hardcore Justice" was a stale event that seemed to be treading water as various wrestlers were put together in order to gain points in the BFG series. Most of the matches were uninspired. Other matches included a decent brawl between Mr. Anderson and Bully Ray and a downright bad Title match with Kurt Angle and Sting ducking it out in a storyline driven encounter.

"No Surrender" was a better show with more tension in the final four Bound for Glory series that promoted three matches where it mattered how the person won as much as if they won at all. There was still some filler on the card, and the main event three way match for the title was the definition of a place-holder match, but the there was more progression in the build for Bound For Glory.

All in all, these events were far from essential, yet were more satisfying than a number of events in 2011. Neither of these will make a best of the year compilation; however, they at least built effectively towards a pay-off, which is more than I can say about most TNA productions.

This TNA twin-pack revolves around the summer of 2011 leading up to their biggest PPV of the year "Bound For Glory." The major story going on around this time was the "Bound For Glory" series where 12 men were in a special tournament that was based off a points system with the winner being the person with the highest amount of points at the end of the series (similar to Starrcade 1989 to those old school fans) so it was just as important how you win as if you win.

Hardcore Justice '11:
X Division Champion Brian Kendrick vs. Alex Shelley vs. Austin Aries - Kendrick came out to brand new music & ring gear as both him & Shelley singled out Aries right from the start. Both men knocked out him out of the ring & concentrated on wrestling each other with Aries trying to come in but kept getting knocked out the ring. This match was what you expected from the X division as far as being fast paced action with various moments like Aries suicide dive into a clothesline on both men, Shelley's leg whip on Kendrick with his leg caught in the middle rope, Kendrick attempting Slice Bread off the the top with Shelley holding Aries, and one weird moment where Aries somehow fell down hurt after raking someone's back. Good opening match.

Knockouts Tag Team Champions Tara & Ms. Tessmacher vs. Sartia & Rosita - Sarita came out wearing her mask due to the injuries suffered by Tessmacher. Tara easily showcased her power advantage throughout the match while Rosita was able to pull off a frankensteiner off the top rope at one point but past that, this was a solid tag match but nothing noteworthy.

Devon vs. D'Angelo Dinero - Matt Morgan was on commentary as this was a Bound For Glory Series match.

Hardcore Justice 2011

Overall a very good show. While not every match was the best, there was enough to make this ppv enjoyable to watch. The X-Division title match was great. The 6-Man Tag match between Fortune & Immortal is a surprisingly awesome match, Bully Ray & Anderson probably have their greatest match together here and the Angle/Sting main event is great. While Angle/Sting has been done a bunch of times I find this match to be better than all of them.

No Surrender 2011

This PPV focuses mostly on the Bound for Glory Series (which would be the theme for years to come). Honestly the first time watching this I didn't think much of it, but watching it back the second time the BFG series matches in particular were great and I suddenly found this show pretty good. Much like Hardcore Justice, not every match is a masterpiece, but there are enough good matches to make this event enjoyable (maybe with the acception of the lousy finish to the main event).

Both ppvs are not the best but there are a bunch of good matches on both events.

If you want pretty lights and big self-promotion then you will watch the New York "entertainment" with its constant repeat stale matches and over-hyped, over priced pay per views.I am been a wrestling fan for over 30 years and TNA is wrestling!!I have seen moves and matches in TNA that have "wowed" me and never expect to see from New York.
