This is an exceptional first album from Finnish musician Kebu!

Performed with great spirit and nicely recorded. Kebu uses old classic analog synthesizers that have a amazing sound.

The tracks are mostly upbeat instrumentals with hints of keyboard greats such as Vangelis, Larry Fast/Synergy, and Jean Michel Jarre.

If you like those masters from the past, then you will enjoy this music a lot. I was honestly impressed and very glad to have stumbled across Kebu.

What a great album! The FB page states, "Kebu creates new instrumental, melodical synthesizer music of the kind that was made in the 70's and 80's using only analog synthesizers". That accurately describes his sound. The music itself is very melodic and rich. Multiple melodies and lines run through the various tracks and Kebu dynamically uses these to great effect. The beats are strong but not overpowering and they allow room for other instrumentation to be appreciated and fully enjoyed. All the tracks are great but there are a few outstanding ones like 'To Jupiter and Back' which is wicked cool. The first track, though not a traditional song, sounds like the national anthem for some space-going species. It makes me feel patriotic to outer space; but I digress...

Totalized, great album if you're into electronic music and worth your $$$

I first learned of Kebu through his cover versions of "Papillon" and "Crockett's Theme"; both are arguably better than the originals. You can find them on his YouTube channel, "kebunator."

His performances, live and recorded, are witty, energetic, and joyful. The album sounds will be familiar to anyone who has spent time with Vangelis or Jarre, but the songs stand on their own and it's refreshing to hear the classic timbres put to new uses. Kebu's songs actually have a tighter structure than Jarre's, which is a plus in my book and gives the whole album a happy feel. Kebu obviously loves these old machines, but he treats them as real instruments, not museum pieces.
