Book Description

This is my first memoir and may be my last; only time will tell. I was born in Florala, Alabama. My mother and father divorced when I was 5. Music became a friend and I formed a band when I was 15. After graduation from Holmes Country High School in Bonifay, Florida I enlisted in the United States Navy. My Honorable Discharge came and Hollywood, California called, then New York, Memphis, Nashville and back to Hollywood. Along the way I investigated the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. in association with the US Government's HSCA - House Select Committee on Assassinations. Danger, intrigue and murder followed as I began to unravel the truth and connections between the killing of MLK, JFK and RFK. I wrote a little bit about my life and self-published it in this book. I hope you enjoy reading it.
More:
Playing poker with men in a rough and tumble southern juke joint is not the typical activity of a 10 year old boy but it was for Gary Revel. Dancing with waitresses to Rock & Roll, Blues and Country music coming from the jukebox was also part of his usual childs play. Danger, intrigue and murder followed as he entered the darkness of the investigation of the Martin Luther King Jr. assassination. He then started his journey that would eventually take him into Brushy Mountain Prison in Petros Tennessee to meet the convicted killer of Martin Luther King Jr., James Earl Ray.
From his humble birth; murder, intrigue, adventure, conspiracy and danger have followed Gary Revel. At the age of 10 years old his mother killed a friend in the bar she owned in Niceville Florida and was jailed in the Okaloosa County Jail for months until the case was dismissed as an accident. He grew up in Florida and graduated from Holmes County High School in Bonifay Florida before joining the Navy during the Vietnam War Era. He was honorably discharged 2 years later and left San Diego California for the music business in Hollywood California where he met Jud Phillips who would become a life-long friend and business associate. From there his music interests took him to New York City and Memphis Tennessee. Then Nashville Tennessee beckoned and Gary joined other greats, (Hank Williams, Roy Acuff, Don Gibson, etc) at the Acuff-Rose Music Company (Now Sony/ATV) where he worked with Wesley Rose and John Erdelyan to create music recordings that made history then and continue to do so today. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was gunned down on April 4, 1968 as he stood on the 2nd floor balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis Tennessee.
In 1977 Gary Revel joined with Nashville Tennessee attorneys Jack Kershaw and Mary Kershaw and later that year in association with Rush To Judgement author Mark Lane in an effort to bring to light the truth of the Civil Rights Leader's murder. The House Select Committee on Assassinations had recently been formed by the US Government House of Representatives to find the real killers of President John F. Kennedy and Nobel Peace Prize Winner Martin Luther King Jr. The MLK assassination investigation took Gary to some new places and some familiar places including Memphis Tennessee, New Orleans Lousisana, and Miami Florida. Along the way the murder of his brother, Ray Fillingame, drew him back to Ocoee Florida where he sought the help of the Orlando Sentinel newspaper to help him find the killers of his brother. Some of his effort in uncovering the conspiracy and the involvement of Organized Crime and the US Government is dealt with in this new book and now for the first time ever available to the general public.
