Editorial Reviews

From the Inside Flap

An extraordinarily beautiful keepsake book, To My Daughter, With Love is a singular journal about the special relationship that exists between mothers and daughters. On these exquisitely designed pages a mother can record, as a gift for her daughter, precious memories, not only of their days together, but also of her own childhood. She can give her daughter a glimpse of the past events that shaped their lives. She can share with her daughter impressions of her own mother, observations about times past, reminiscences of her early years, of her accomplishments, her disappointments, her insight, her dreams.

Author/artist Donna Green believes that such memories represent the greatest gift a mother can give her daughter. "I wanted to create a mother-to-daughter journal for women of every age; a kind of diary I will keep for my daughter; a book I hope my mother will one day present to me."

Collectors of Donna Green's art will especially appreciate the fine reproductions of nearly twenty new oil-on-canvas works. These exceptional pieces typify the clarity, emotional range, richness of detail and sensitive use of color for which Donna Green has become so well know. The primarily narrative images are at once timeless and contemporary. In addition to the paintings, the artist has created delicate floral illustrations and sketches of cut-work lace especially for this book.

The exqusite illistrations moved me to obtain this book. The written words have been thought provoking and healing.I purchased the book for my daughter.
The format of the book is in three parts, the first is about my mother. She died at age 54 a few years ago and this book has provided many healing memories for me. The second section is about myself- an honest apprasial of the loving person I am. The last is about my daughter, my hopes and dreams are written and express my love for her.
I am thankfull for the beautiful opportunities this loving book has given me. The pictures make it a work of art, and my writings make it a treasured gift from my heart

My mother bought this book, filled it in and gave it to me for Christmas one year. I went into my bedroom, closed the door, and did not come out until 3 hours later - I cried the entire time. I loved reading about my mother's mom and things they used to do together. But even more, I loved reading about the different emotions my mom had during the different stages of my life. That was the best gift I have EVER received.

The illustrations, poems, and special words to Doanna Greens daughter make it easier for the lay person to write her own special words to her own daughter. The book is heartfelt and beautiful.

I had bought this book for a friend of mine, who was having a baby. After flipping through it, I realized how important it was for me to write down things about my mother and me, for my daughter. I have always cherished the times my mother has sat down with me and talked about what things were like when she was younger, as well as what I was like as a baby. This book has opened that door for me, a chance to write down my history for my daughter as well as my grandchildren. It has given me an opportunity to open up my heart to my daughter in another way, and that is just such a wonderful gift.

We have three daughters whose births span fifteen years. I first became acquainted with this book when our eldest daughter presented it to me and suggested I complete it for our youngest daughter. This book is a wonderful way to share the stories of three generations...grandmother, mother and daughter. I was able to complete the first section with stories from my own mother before her death. Then I put the book down and did not get back to it for many years. Recently I dusted it off and decided I wanted to complete it for our eldest daughter. Since she originated the idea, I thought she would most enjoy the finished project. As I finished my (the mother's) portion and began the portion about her, I realized each of our daughters would treasure such a book. That is when I searched for it on Amazon. I wasn't sure the book was still around, and was thrilled to be able to purchase two more identical books. The art work in the book is lovely. The subject matters are addressed in such a way that your mind easily travels back to retrieve the memories and stories you want to share with the next generations. Each of the three sections prompts you to tell childhood experiences, challenges of growing up, teen years, dating, marriage. Along the way it asks about likes and dislikes, thoughts, best friends, secrets, and many, many more details. It is wonderful fun and enchanting as it takes you down memory lane. I hope you will experience as much joy as I have in telling my story to our daughters.

This is a wonderful book. My mother purchased it 10 years ago and on October 5th, 2004 presented it to me and my husband in celebration of our 2nd wedding anniversary. It was a very special and beautiful surprise. Something that will be cherished and treasured forever. In it she captured all the emotions she has experienced throughout our lives.... fantastic.

My mother is now working on my brother's book, 'To My Son, With Love: A Mother's Memory Book' also by Donna Green.

My mother sent me this book for my 21st birthday. She and my grandmother had filled it with their memories, hopes, and dreams covering a span of 70 years. I learned things I had never thought to ask, and I treasure the stories they shared with me. I cried for a long time after I received this gift as it touched me so deeply.
