Book Description

This humorously illustrated book is a collection of wisdom that renowned adventurer Bear Grylls wants to share with his sons about the risks, tumbles, and victories of a well-lived life.

Mountain climber, world-record holder, and internationally known television personality Grylls knows a thing or two about adventure. The greatest adventure he's experienced, though, is raising his three boys. In To My Sons, Grylls shares the quotes, Scripture verses, and spiritual wisdom he has learned through the literal ups and downs of an exciting life. Featuring cartoons from well-known sketch artist Charlie Mackesy, this book is a poignant primer for boys and men of all ages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book for Any Child (as well as Adults!) January 30, 2012
This little book is a message from Bear Grylls to his children regarding how they should live. It is filled with memorable and insightful, pithy sayings along with some relevant Scripture passages from the Bible. The book is moving because it displays a father's love to his children who wants the best for his sons in all things motivated by a sincere faith in Jesus Christ. Though the book is small and inexpensive, it is handsomely published. It would make a good gift to fathers who will in turn read it to their children as it is humorously illustrated to enhance the message of the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring Quotes From an Inspirational Dad July 8, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
Anyone who has ever watched Bear Grylls' adventures on "Man vs. Wild" can't help but amazed at his spirit of adventure, ingenuity, courage, wisdom, and passion for life. In this little book Bear Grylls gives his favorite Bible verses, life quotes, and wisdom and dedicates this collection to his boys. It is a wonderful compilation for any Father to seek to implement in his own life and emulate for the lives of his children. Grylls emphasizes a love for Jesus Christ, a love for others, and maximizing your time in life by serving others. Let me share some of my favorite quotes from the book:

"Aim to live a wild, generous, full, exciting life--blessing those around you and seeing the good in all."

"Have a few close friends who you see often--their friendship matters more than having many shallow acquaintances."

"Choose your job carefully--do work that excites you. It is where you will spend so much of your time."

"Cheerfulness in adversity is a key character trait in the game of life."

"Moments of doubt are part of life. Accept them and remember that Jesus Himself said, 'My power is made perfect in weakness' (2 Corinthians 12:9)."

"Understand that failure is an essential stepping-stone on the road to success."

"Give more than you take, especially with friends and family. See the best in people--as Christ does with you."

"Spend more time with your family and less at work--no one on their deathbed says they wish thye had spent more time in the office!"

"No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care."

"You have two ears and one mouth--use them in proportion: Listen twice as much as you speak!

3.0 out of 5 stars Be aware this is not "a book" July 16, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ugh, what the hell was that about? I thought this was going to be a BOOK with lots of anecdotes and deep insights into perseverance and personal triumph but I guess I grabbed the wrong title cause this was just one or two-liner advice along with a weird little line drawing on each page. Kinda quirky and strange but oh well... The advice is still good so I guess worth reading since it'll only take you about 20 minutes. Just be aware this is NOT a "book".

5.0 out of 5 stars Simple but powerful truths July 26, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Just finished reading this little book with my kids on our kindle... it is worth buying a hard copy just to keep around. Relationships with God, others, your family, your job... great advice. When I was a kid, my Dad unexpectedly died at age 30... I would have given a lot to have had something like this from him. I think I will start a notebook for my kids, and this little book is a great place to begin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Quote Book August 17, 2014
This a cute quote book for anyone who needs to be reminded of the great things in life. I bought it for my 8 & 10 yr sons but there were a lot of quotes in there for me to reflect on. Really cute scribbled pics that Bear drew to go along with each quote. My boys and I try to remind each other of some of the quotes through out the day to help make us better people.
