Book Description

Invaders are coming to take what isn't theirs, again.

Neala wants to stand and fight for her homeland, but as one of the last druids in ancient Ireland, she may be standing alone.

Persecuted, hunted down, forced to live in obscurity, the druids have all but given up. Can the determination of a girl who has barely come into her power bring them together? Or, just when she finally finds her place among her kind, will they end up losing a homeland their very magic is tied to?

This unflinching tale of the end of the time of the druids is filled with hardship, discovery, and love found in the most unexpected of places.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Hold onto your horses. To Ride a Puca is an exhilarating ride through a magical world filled with secrets and danger at every turn. Just like the legend, this wild tale of love, family, and friendship will leave you forever changed-in a wonderful way." ~Karen Amanda Hooper, author of TANGLED TIDES.

"A fabulous YA historical paranormal romance that is as sexy and dark as it is fantastical. Set against the history of the druid clans near the end of its time, this story examines young love, coming of age, and reconciling that which you have learned from your parents vs that which you discover.."~Christine Fonseca, author of LACRIMOSA.

"To Ride A Puca is an awesome, mature YA Historical Fantasy adventure. McCorkle writes such fantastic characters in this story that I love them all, especially the horse, Dubh. I recommend To Ride A Puca as a must read."~ I Heart YA Books reviews.

From the Author

While filled with magic, this novel is an unflinching look at the end of the druids' time in ancient Ireland. It contains some difficult subject matter (violence, slavery) and is therefore recommended for mature YA and up.

5.0 out of 5 stars twist made me jump at the end! December 13, 2012

Read To Ride a Puca months ago. OMG great books. Couldn't put them down! Have recommended the series to a couple of my friends. Sci-fi, folklore, romance, mystical. To Ride a Puca has a twist at the end (of an already good book) that about made me jump out of the chair I was sitting in! And there is another book in the series coming - soon I hope! Good, Good, Good book.
