Jeremy Affeldt opens his heart to fans and critics alike. He unashamedly shares his struggles on and off the field, as well as his passion for Christ and injustice. Written in casual narrative, Affeldt gives account to his life starting with a scare at almost being kidnapped and sex trafficked as a kid visiting Thailand. That scare helped inspire him 20 years later to partner with various human trafficking organizations, such as Not for Sale. He continues to share stories of his success and failures in baseball and his walk with God. He isn't afraid to show his failures and mistakes, and always points to the grace and love of God in every situation. Affeldt recognizes that God has given him an amazing influence, given that he is a two time World Series Champion. He doesn't squander his fame and wealth, and instead uses it to spread the Gospel and help stop injustice. Highly recommended!

Absolutely loved it! An easy read that I read in one sitting. I'm a huge Jeremy Affeldt fan and this book is an insightful and inspiring story about his journey through life. He's not just a first-rate baseball player, but a first-rate person as well. Jeremy is more than just a baseball player, but a passionate defender and helper of the less fortunate as he follows God's calling for his life. You'll see his heart for God and his heart for the least of these. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

It is truly amazing to read of man that could do a million things with the money he makes, and chooses to use it to serve God. Thank you for showing us that you are human, just like the rest of us.

Jeremy Affeldt is a major league baseball player. He's currently playing with the San Francisco Giants, but he's played for several different teams in his career. He's a quality baseball player, but he is certainly so much more than that. To Stir A Movement is the story of his life, his baseball career, his relationship with Jesus, and his passions. This was an amazing story to read because he was not ashamed to tell us his life. He was open, honest and real in his stories.
He tells us how, when he was a child in Thailand, he was almost a victim of trafficking. Luckily his dad was there and had been watching him and was able to stop the situation from escalating. He tells us of his childhood as the son of a military man, the struggles and joys that come along with it. He tells us of his baseball career, how it all started, and a lot of the ups and downs that go along with it. He tells us of his passions, the organizations that he partners with, and the work he does when he's not on the field. He tells us how he met his wife, how he proposed and more about his family life.
He tells us all of these things, all while making sure that we know that God is the foundation of it all. He tells us of his encounters with Jesus and how those moments have shaped his life. I love reading how this famous, talented baseball player is all about Jesus. In reading his story, I am inspired to constantly dig into Jesus and walk where He wants me to walk and do the things that He wants me to do, and to live my life for Him. No matter what.
This book is a chance to see into the life of someone you may never have thought the opportunity. If you like inspirational journeys, with hope for tomorrow, read this book. If you're looking for ways to get involved in loving like Jesus loves, read this book. It's all in there, I promise. :)
