Book Description

September 1, 2009
Award-Winning Author introduces the next installment of her paranormal romance series

  • A 2008 Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year Award Winner!
  • Night Owl Romance Reader Choice Award for Best Paranormal 2008

In this third in the series, wildlife photographer Tessa Anderson must prove her brother innocent of murder charges. But when she discovers a gorgeous naked man barely alive on her beach, she's got a new world of troubles to deal with, not least of which is how he affects her with just a look, a touch, or a whispered word.

Hunter Greymore is a lupus garou, a grey werewolf. Hoping to keep a low profile at Tessa's cabin on the coast, he's drawn into her life—and into her bed. His animal instincts war with his human half, but in the end, the only thing he can do about this fascinating, adorable woman is to leave her forever —unless she becomes one of them.

More About the Author

USA TODAY bestselling, and award-winning author and creator of award-winning teddy bears who have found homes all over the world including Australia, Switzerland, China, and Russia, and a retired officer of the US Army Reserves, I love to plant trees and flowers and if I could, I'd turn all the deserts green. Time travels are my favorite read, although I love to read most anything, and the Bourne series, Romancing the Stone, Sixth Sense, Legend, The Princess Bride, Stardust, Inkheart, LOTR, and tons of other movies are my favorites.

I love to research, to make urban fantasy worlds real, to bring a little of the paranormal into our world. Even in "Winning the Highlander's Heart" the heroine feels she is cursed and she has second sight. But I try to do it in a way that feels real, and not fantasized. :) Currently, I'm working on book 2 of the new jaguar shifter series, but still am working on wolf book number 12 and 13! So more hunky wolves to come! A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing has just released.

3.0 out of 5 stars Didn't quite work for me but... September 1, 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Hunter Greymere has a lot of responsibility on his hands. As his pack's leader their protection is his duty. When a California wildfire displaces the pack he and his sister Meara head to the Oregon coast to mind their uncle's coastal rentals while the rest of the pack heads to Portland to try city life. Upon their arrival their uncle warns them about a local human photographer who needs to be 'taken care of' because she might catch a shift on film and that would be very dangerous to the lupus garou.

The last thing the siblings anticipate is that Meara's desire for a mate will lead her off getting her brother nearly killed and left memory-less on the frigid beach. Lucky for Hunter, Tessa Anderson, the photographer he is supposed to deal with finds him as she searches the beach for dry wood to keep warm during an ice storm. Injured, suffering from amnesia and intensely attracted to Tessa, Hunter agrees to help protect her from the stalker that has made a point of invading her home. With Tessa's brother convicted of murdering Bethany, his girlfriend, the last thing she needs is someone breaking into their home. If she and Hunter can unravel the mystery of who really murdered Bethany and who is stalking her, maybe they can overcome the sensual draw they have to one another before hearts get broken.

I really like the mythology of this series and how each book truly can stand alone. The romances are very traditional, if a little formulaic for my tastes and can easily appeal to romance readers who are not into paranormals. What made To Tempt the Wolf lose some of its potential "I liked it" mojo for me was that this was an amnesia plot. Done well this plot device can be entertaining but I personally don't care for them unless they are very well written.

4.0 out of 5 stars More than wolves September 9, 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback
When Hunter Greymere wakes up on the beach, badly injured, with a beautiful woman tending to him, it's only the start of a chapter of accidents. Hunter is a werewolf, and can't remember his name or how he came to be hurt. Tessa is a human, but she smells so very good he's falling in love. And Tessa's friends are human too, which makes them altogether too vulnerable.

When Tessa Anderson's brother is jailed for murder, that's only the start of her chapter of accidents. But that man on the beach has a certain animal magnetism that's really hard to resist. He starts by saving Tessa's life. Then he saves her friends' lives. And soon the strange coincidences start to pile up.

If only Hunter could remember who he was. If only someone could work out why Tessa smells so good. And if only there wasn't a full moon rising.

To Tempt the Wolf, Terry Spear's newest entry in her werewolves series, fulfils all expectations. Only Terry could create such a completely believable world, with such completely real characters. And only Terry could write a series where the individuals are always new, the distant connections always just close and far enough away to be exactly right, and the imagination so free to fall so deeply in love. These are werewolves like they were meant to be, fully human, fully wolf, fully integrated, and more. And the tale is in the more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Keeps you guessing December 24, 2010
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Not only is this a werewolve series but also a murder mystery. It has some great action as well as some hilarious parts. Not many authors can pull the comedy off but Terry Spears does a great job with this. Especially with the newly made wolves. I will leave you to read this and not give it away. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys action, romance, and comedy all wrapped up in the same book. I can not wait for the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars action-packed werewolf romantic thriller August 27, 2009
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Wildlife photographer Tessa Anderson is taking pictures of an out of control California wildfire when the wolf rushes her; she escapes and thinks she best go back to Oregon for her brother's murder trial. At the same time she drives by, twin sibling grey lupus garous Hunter and Meara Greymere leave the inferno to move to the cabin on the Oregon coast left them by their uncle who retired to the Everglades.

Soon afterward in Oregon, Tessa comes by, but Meara tells her to leave. Tess insists she was to have dinner with Uncle Basil as he told her to call him, but Meara remains unfriendly until Tess sarcastically says nice meeting you and goes, but makes it clear she will insure Uncle Basil is okay. Afterward Meara demands her brother find her a mate or she will join the others. While Hunter worries about his no longer compliant sister, he also finds himself wanting the human photographer. However as his pack deserts him, several beings attack Hunter. Wounded, he swims to the beach near Tess' home. Tess helps him and soon she is a target of his enemies and of his wanting her.

The third werewolf romance (see DESTINY OF THE WOLF and HEART OF THE WOLF) is an enjoyable action-packed thriller from the fiery onset to the mystery of what is going on in Coastal Oregon. Fans of the series will enjoy the tale of the Gray Pack forced to relocate near a Red Pack (in Portland) as werewolves are territorial. Tessa is an intrepid human female who is not afraid of the big bad wolf while Hunter has found his soul mate ironically as he has tried for almost two centuries to find Meara's alpha mate. Terry Spear provides an engaging paranormal romantic suspense as gold is the greedy lowest common denominator and love the highest common denominator.
