Book Description

Professor, apologist, novelist, literary critic, fantasy writer, philosopher, theologian, and ethicist, Lewis has exerted a profound influence on the way millions of people read literature, make moral choices, think about God, and live out the Christian faith. By means of a genial blend of reason and imagination, logic and fantasy, profound academic insight and good old common sense, Lewis has challenged the modern world to re-examine the claims of Christ, the Bible, and the Church, re-experience the goodness, truth, and beauty of literature, and re-expand its vision of God, man, and the universe. In each 600-word entry, Markos enlist Lewis’s aid in the study, both theoretically and practically, of a topic of perennial interest to humanity and of particular interest to the early 21st century.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent review of the writings of C.S.Lewis November 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book gives an overview of Lrwis' writings in light of profound theological application for today. The more I read Lewis, the more I am given a clearer understanding of the gospel and the gospel mandate to truly love and serve others. Lewis is the literary king in this way, showing us deep truths in few words. Dr. Markos is gifted in this way as well and I plan to read as much of his works as available. I highly recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Summation suffices February 25, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Markos allows Lewis to sum up his own writing in his own words' adding dimension.....to such a selfless approach of not adding or subtracting from the great "dynamo" of 20th century Christian apologetics adds credibility to the cache earned by this writer"s own masterful grasp of Lewis......which shines brightly yet is in powerfully subtle form throughout.

4.0 out of 5 stars Didn't intend to go cover to cover.... January 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
When I started browsing through this book, I didn't really foresee going back to the beginning and reading literally from A to Z. I found each entry had something new to offer and shed light in a unique way on the specific alpha topic. Thanks for a good read!

3.0 out of 5 stars bits and snippets of Lewis December 31, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
C.S. Lewis is difficult to understand sometimes and Mr. Markos sets several of Lewis's books apart and takes parts of them and attempts to explain. I for one like Lewis's books themselves and like to read and reread, go back and remember and mark in my books. I did get some different points of views from this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent December 25, 2013

As a huge C.S.Lewis fan it was fun to read this book. It explains a lot about Mr Lewis and specific things he wrote and believed. He and Tolkien have been favorites of mine for almost 50 years. If you are a Christian, even if you aren't a Christian, Ithink you will enjoy this book. If you are new to C.S.Lewis I would highly recommend The Great divorce as well as this book.
