For starters, the bags are just way too small for a sandwich to fit in so you're kinda putting a lot of work into jamming it in there. Add in the fact that grilled cheese is buttered on the OUTSIDE of the bread and you've got a huge buttery mess on your hands, LITERALLY. And in the end you STILL need to wash these so if you're not washing a pan you're washing a bag (which is not easy when there's cheese all inside it.
Here's how I now do it.
Take one piece of parchment paper, make the sandwitch on it, fold it over so it covers both sides of the sandwitch, and stick it in the toaster. When it's done, throw away the piece of parchment. DONE.
What will be consistent are the product promises: you can heat or reheat and get a crispy, golden-brown crust or coating on your sandwich or tart or what have you, without fail.
The bag is really roomy -- so much so that I had to sort of fold the edge and corner on one side to get it in. But this just means it will accommodate a sandwich or serving stuffed the way you like it, again as long as your toaster slots will take it.
Mess is kept in the pouch -- There's no leaking.
You MAY (or probably WILL) see spotting as grease contacts the mesh construction of the bags, but it's not really seeping in. It just seems to be the "cost of doing business" and will not feel greasy after a washing even if it's still visible.
It's big enough to fit your hand and your sponge in to wash. Remove solids as best you can beforehand, and use dish soap and water and sponge as you would in any dish washing task. I have not used these in the dish washer, so cannot comment, but do hang them upside down as open as possible (I hang them on a wooden spoon handle protruding from the utensil cup on my drain board) and these will give you plenty of low maintenance use.
I'm dinging it a star however because one of the bags burned a hole in it after about 25 uses and is unusable. Still a great concept and hope the second bag lasts longer!

The bread I use is wider it seems. My toaster slot isn't quite wide enough. I'll have to buy some thinner bread and try it with that. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Snowbird
They are messy to clean - at first I thought they would be cool for my MIL to use, she has Alzheimer's and can't cook. Read morePublished 1 month ago by ConnieO
First bag ripped after 3 tries and the second one after 1 try. Attempted to make grilled cheese, which was ok, but had to flip the bag over after half cooking. Read morePublished 2 months ago by M. Carey

Love using my toaster bags when I go to restaurants and they offer me a gluten free bun- I get it toasted and am not concerned about any cross contamination of gluten. Read morePublished 3 months ago by Amazon Customer
These bags were a total waste of money. They make your sandwiches taste burnt before the bread is even toasted good. Read morePublished 4 months ago by kkirk
These work quite well--you can make a dry-on-the-outside toasted (not grilled) cheese sandwich in a hurry in your toaster. Read morePublished 4 months ago by Padmapada
