EXPERIENCE: First of all, I have to say, I am quite impressed with this unit. Some of the features I love about this coffee maker is the fact it comes with two thermal travel mugs which work excellently, even with the tops off! I also like the removable drip trays, and the permanent nylon filters. And as a bonus, it also comes with a mini scoop! Using this coffee makers is really simple.

MAKING COFFEE: Some people like their coffee weak, some like it strong, I have found through personal experience that two scoops of coffee from the mini scoop, will fill the filters up to half way, and I feel that is the perfect amount for me, not too weak, not too strong. The filter bays basically slide outward from the back of the coffee maker, each filter has its own handle so you can pull it out.

Put two whole scoops of coffee into the filters, and replace them back into the machine, and slide the filter bays back into place. Fill the reservoir to the 2-cup level if you are making two cups, or to the 1-cup level if your making one cup. Remember that this coffee maker has the ability to make individual cups of coffee, so if making only one cup, only put coffee in the left side filter basket.

Using the switch on the top, I am able to select weather I want one cup of coffee or two cups of coffee. But even more importantly, if somebody drinks decaf and I drink caffanated, You can make them in their own separate filter baskets, without any unwanted contamination! Even cooler, I can make coffee in the left travel mug, and I can make hot coco or tea in the right travel mug!

REVIEWER ARGUMENTS: I bought this coffee maker on Amazon, so I have been privileged to read all the reviewer arguments. Let me discuss each one...

I bought this unit becasue my one cup at a time Keurig unit gave up the ghost. I have tried two other single cup at a time coffee/tea makers but thought the idea of having coffe and tea (I drink tea in the morning and my SO drinks coffee) out of one unit was awesome.

I tried it out for the first time this morning and it worked as expected. Coffee on one side and tea on the other.

Pros:
1. You can brew two of the same or different morning beverages.
2. Comes with its own travel mugs, although I still used my own.
3. Both beverages came out tasting as expected, just like the Keurig unit used to make, but at a much lower cost.
4. Cost - very cheap to purcahse unit and per cup cost is low (compared to Keurig).

Cons:
1. No timer, so you need to push the button when you want it to brew. So, I dinged it for half a star.
2. Slow to brew. Not sure how you may feel about that, but I like my tea brewed faster. So, I dinged it for half a star.

My husband and I love this coffee maker. We haven't had it for long but it has worked really well for us. We only use the mugs to make the coffee- we have never used them with the lids or put them in the dishwasher so I can't say if it would cause problems like the others say. This is a very basic model so if you want something fancy or high tech this isn't it.

A little advice if you don't like to use the metal filters that it comes with- my mom showed me a trick to use the cone paper filters which I thought were to big you just fold over one side for a perfect fit.

This product is everything we needed in one small coffeemaker. I drink regular coffee and my husband drinks decaf. Before purchasing this coffeemaker we had to make one kind and put it in a thermal carafe and then make the other kind. This coffeemaker makes it possible for us to make one kind in each cup at the same time. The coffee baskets don't require filters so that is a nice savings both for us and the environment.
Some reviewers complained about the coffee not staying hot enough to travel with but we are retired and can sit with our coffee while it is still hot.

I really liked the idea of a single serve coffee maker that didn't use paper filters, proprietary pods, Kcups, etc. Those coffeemakers are expensive and from all the reviews are not all that dependable (pump issues). I can use whatever ground coffee I like (which is moneysaving) or tea or 1 coffee and 1 tea, etc. It works well and is quick and easy to use however I have a couple issues:
1)As others have stated, the switch for one cup points to the opposite side which you place the cup and if a person doesn't read directions(men :D ) then you could have a mess. But I read the directions so it was not a problem.
2)It does not have an automatic shut-off--one must manually turn the unit off.
3)To clean filter/cups you must swing them out from the back which requires pulling the unit out of its spot to access them. This causes a few drops of coffee on the counter so I have to stop and wipe down the counter before I can slide it back to its spot. Not a huge deal, but....
To sum it up,it is simple, fast(4 minutes,4seconds), inexpensive, and generally easy to operate. I like it.

Before creating this review, I did my homework and homebrew. This twin mug coffee brew station is one surprising unit. I read the 80+ reviews and tested my unit based on the good, and the bad.

The Good is that in addition to the pro's I found in other reviews, one con bothered me. Many complained that this maker does not have an auto-off function and I wondered. I contacted Toastess tech support voicing my thoughts that I would burn out the unit by forgetting to turn it off after my coffee finished. To my surprise, they took my question seriously and conducted an all day test on one of their units. The verdict is that, although it does not have an auto shutoff, it "does" have a recycle process that tests if there is water in the chamber and shuts down the element if that starts to get warm with no water. The machine has some brains.

Some cons mentioned leaking, and as I have had three dual mug makers and this is just par for the course. I let mine burp several times after the brew, and have minimal to no leak.
Also, looking at your makers face and there are arrows showing where to place the cups for 1 and 2 cups. The top lever that selects is opposite but... illustrated (you do not need reading skills, only common sense). This twin cup C_Maker does not make scolding hot coffee. But for most, it can be consumed well before it gets cold. Lastly, one review by a bean connoisseur stated that their coffee was not as tasty as their old machine. The inside of the mugs is high quality plastic. Please give it a few times through to have the factory taste disappear. I get just as good a cup of joe on this as any other coffee station I have owned. Adjust your water for one cup about a 1/4" above the line. 2 cup makers always cheat the second mug a little. Play with the unit a bit.
