1.0 out of 5 stars Frustrating!
This is a lovely kettle that worked well with once a month use for several months. When the kettle was used on a daily basis, something went bad and the thermostat began shorting out. I contacted the manufacturer since the kettle was still under the 1 year warrenty, but I since I did not have the original purchase info (my bad) they said they couldn't help me. I had...

5.0 out of 5 stars Glass, and fast, March 8, 2006
This review is from: Toastess® Electric Glass Kettle
I am well-pleased with this electric kettle. I conducted extensive research on line, and finally found a kettle that met my needs. At approx. $60 it was more than I intended to spend. I like the following features in the Toastess cordless electric glass kettle globe: glass instead of plastic; you can pick up the kettle off the base for pouring and filling; automatic shutoff; and it heats water fast! I also wanted a kettle that wasn't too large, and had a pleasant appearance. This kettle meets my needs while being attractive. It has a minimum fill line, which is approximately 16 ounces. Instructions indicate that you must fill to this level, at a minimum. Instructions also indicate that you should only fill it with water, which is fine for me, as I use it only for making tea. I haven't figured out what the metal sieve in the mouth of the kettle is intended to strain out.

NOTE: This product busted this winter. The base shorted out. I don't recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars If going for an electric tea kettle go for GLASS!!, December 11, 2005
This review is from: Toastess® Electric Glass Kettle
I bought this kettle 6 months ago and use it at least 4 times a day, for heating water for baby bottles, tea etc.. It works as predicted and expected. I was searching the internet specifically for a an electric kettle because a stove top steel kettle takes too long. I chose this kettle because it is all glass and as many may already know heating anything in plastic can be bad for your health. Always use glass!

One note to the manufacturer: 1)it would be nice in black. 2) When one picks up the kettle off its base and then puts it back on the base I wish it would immediately turn off rather than keep boiling until the auto switch feature shuts it off.

4.0 out of 5 stars Toastess water boiler, January 30, 2006
This review is from: Toastess® Electric Glass Kettle
I found this kettle to be well built. The wide base helps avoiding tipping when the kettle is set down off its base. The glass bowl gives you confidence that the water is clean! Be aware this kettle isn't 100% glass - the heating base (bottom of bowl) appears to be stainless steel. (In the last similar appliance I had, the heating element was a loop in the water hidden from view. Although that appliance heated faster, when it failed, I opened it and was disgusting to see the crud that had accumulated on the heating element.) There are two small disadvantages to the Toastess design - 1) it gets quite noisy when the water approaches boiling due to the heating bottom acting as a sounding board (then it gets much quieter as boiling begins) and 2) the glass bowl is somewhat heavier than an equivalent plastic kettle. But the big advantage is - you can S*E*E that the contents are clean.

I had documentation on the box of the maufacture date, but Toastess said that was not adequate. I am sadly out $60 and the use of what I thought was a fine kettle.

5.0 out of 5 stars 96 Year Old Goes High Tech, March 15, 2006
This review is from: Toastess® Electric Glass Kettle
I bought this for my 96 year old mother-in-law that kept boiling her tea pot dry on the stove. She went through at least four pots that I know of from stainless steel to glass. With the auto shut off and quick reheat it was perfect for her. She loves it and feels great about having a high tech item in her kitchen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Clean, clear GLASS, June 9, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Toastess® Electric Glass Kettle
This kettle looks so beautiful in my kitchen! It's also a hard working, no nonsense water boiler -- the water does boil, not just heat up -- bubbles and gurgles before it automatically shuts off. It's very quick, a little noisy, but not annoying. And NO PLASTIC ODOR. I wish it were less expensive, but I don't regret spending the money. A fine purchase.

3.0 out of 5 stars Toastess Glass Tea Kettle Globe, February 11, 2007
This review is from: Toastess® Electric Glass Kettle
I believe that the kettle has a design flaw. ie When you open the lid to fill the kettle the lid flops back down, so you need to hold the lid back. Not too convenient. It is quite noisey too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Toastess electric kettle with glass globe, March 4, 2008
I've been using this electric kettle for about 3 years now and it has been great. This brand may not be as popular as other better known brands. At the time, I took a chance because of the glass globe. Having glass globe is definite advantage over plastic or stainless casing. You can see inside and make sure the boiled water is clean and free of possible household debris/impurities. I would never want to boil water in a plastic container and stainless kettle would make me wonder what is going on inside the kettle. Um... yes I am a little paranoid and this kettle gives me peace of mind.
The product is very solidly built and the glass is quite thick. No frills design. A little heavy but not too much. It may not look so stylish as more popular ones but still looks quite graceful in our kitchen. I am very satisfied with it.
