I loved it when I got it and used it every day. It easily chopped onions, carrots, garlic, celery, broccoli, cauliflower. It's not going to work for things like flax seed, however.

That said, I'm frustrated. There's a small extension on the lid that hooks into the machine and locks it so you can't accidentally open it while it's running. Not once but TWICE that piece broke off. I actually bought a second machine JUST to get a new lid.

Don't bother. Find another brand that's made better.

The size of this chopper is great. I didn't have the money for a big food processor and I really don't need a big one, so this one was idea. Other Toastmaster products tend to be made cheaply, but this is awesome. I even recommended it to my boss who bought one for the assisted living home we work at to chop up food for the residents who have trouble chewing. This item is great.

After reading the customer reviews (all 5 star) I decided that this chopster would be a good buy. I received my delivery today from Amazon (Only took about 3 days) and am very pleased. The unit is sturdy & durable, easy to take apart & clean, simple to put back together, priced correctly and fun to use.

It is a small appliance, not for big jobs. The bowl holds up to 1 1/2 cups of food. Cut food into uniform 1/2 inch pieces before processing. The unit is safe to use as the blades will not spin unless the lid is locked into place. My impression is that Toastmaster thought of everything and provided an excellent value for the $11.99 price.

Actually I'm talking about my dad here, he recently had several teeth removed, and didn't want to face the dentist for a while. He has some upper dentures, but he doesn't feel comfortable using them. For Christmas, I told him I was gonna get him one of these choppers. Now, I looked at those things they advertise of TV all the time, they sell for sixty bucks or more, but I didn't see that they were worth the money. There are a lot of good small choppers out there, they perform pretty well until the blades break off the plastic rotors. You can hardly expect a titanium rotor for under fifteen dollars.
I figured at the price of this "Chopster" thing, if it breaks anytime soon, I can just buy a few more. When my dad opened it up for Christmas, he was surprised at how sturdy the thing was. Simple too, you put on the chopping cup, then fill it with what you want chopped up. The last step is to put on the lid, and push the big button. It's a plug-in device not a battery powered one, so it has good power. My dad likes, and uses it all the time. I just got him a Subway sub the other day, and my dad was able to chop his up the way he wanted, and eat it with a spoon.
Just by looking at the picture, I think you can see that it's easy to clean. The chopping cup comes off easily, and it can be rinsed off in the sink, or even put in the dishwasher if you so desire. I'd consider taking it out before the drying cycle, even though it says its dishwasher safe, heating elements may warp it. I've used the Chopster myself a few times, and it works great. If you put in mixed items, like my dads sub sandwich, the lighter stuff like the bread, sometimes just stays on top. If you break it down a little, it chops up fine.

I have owned this chopper since my first born (2002) was just 8 months old and used it for her to make table food into baby food. I now have another daughter born in May and I broke out my trusty little chopper and it still works great for chopping up a bit of meat, veggie and rice or potato to make fresh, homemade baby food. My daughter thoroughly enjoys having a bit of texture to her dinners now that she is 8 months old and this leaves just enough texture to food that it is not like soup for her.

This cleans up very easily, goes right in the dishwasher (I have used a heat dry and it has not warped it, but I make sure I only put it on the top rack). The blade still chops great, but as others have said, this is NOT made for heavy duty chopping of ice or hard veggies. For soft-cooked foods it is perfect!!

Not only that, but it is cheap enough that you can buy two to rotate through your dishwasher cycle and always have a clean bowl and blade ready to go!

Pluses: Small, compact, works well for baby food preparation. Safety feature built into the lid - the unit will not work without the cover on it properly. Takes up no counter space and stores in a drawer if you want.

Minuses: Does not chop ice, raw meat or hard veggies well. I wouldnt even attempt doing it with this chopper.

This is a great handy little chopper. I heep it on my counter top and use it almost every day. For the price you can't ask for a better chopper. I am enjoying it.

Rates five stars because of what this appliance does: conveniently chops up and/or minces small amounts of vegs/meats, takes up little counter or drawer space, is very easy to rinse out and clean and is dishwasher safe. And since this little unit cost me under 15 dollars it is an excellent value for the money.

If you have larger amounts to chop up you can batch. Or use your larger and no doubt more expensive Cuisinart (like I do) when processing large batches of food.

Since this unit is small for me it is much more convenient to use than my larger, much more expensive, and cumbersome to haul and and then clean fancy schmancy Cuisinart.

My last mini chopper was almost identical in design and I used it weekly for two years. So this one is more than worth the try me-buy me risk. Got this one because I liked the large power button on the top. Instant on and off thus helping to prevent over processing.

Like every food processor/chopper I have ever used, the lid and bowl must be properly lined together or no love. Safety first I suppose!

And when it eventually breaks, at under 15 dollars you will not feel badly chucking it out. It comes with a warranty of some kind but for the price I threw it out. That's me.
