5.0 out of 5 stars well done, toastmaster!
well-designed, lots of little thoughts you would not have guessed would appear in an appliance: a place to wrap the cord underneath, a nook to hold the cord tight so it doesn't unravel, the beautiful curves of the shape, itself, easily cleanable, strong motor, flexible plastic. and then there is the price.

the only things they could have done better on this little...

2.0 out of 5 stars Weak motor
The juicer appears to have a weak motor. Putting even small pressure on th squizzed orange procudes loud, nasty voice and the motor stops. It occurs in both directions but more in counter clockwise direction. I have to squizz the oranges very gingerly and it takes a long time. Best feature - it's very easy to clean

well-designed, lots of little thoughts you would not have guessed would appear in an appliance: a place to wrap the cord underneath, a nook to hold the cord tight so it doesn't unravel, the beautiful curves of the shape, itself, easily cleanable, strong motor, flexible plastic. and then there is the price.

the only things they could have done better on this little package are:

1) the little rubber feet tend to pop out while juicing. (that's okay, they don't do much anyway. makes it easy to clean that area, anyway :P )

2) even with the little rubber feet (which are shaped like suction cups on the bottom), the juicer still slips around on my counter while juicing. (juicing can get messy if you do a lot, and after a while, you've got juice on the counter, and then even with the rubber suction feet, juicer still slips around). sometimes i put it on my large cutting board to stop from slipping/rotating while juicing.

alternatively, it might be nice if there were a way to select that you want the grinder motor to turn only in one direction or the other (instead of both, which it does randomly: this is a nice feature, but would be nice to turn it off, so you could bolster the handle up against something else (like microwave oven, etc.) so that juicer would not slip on counter. but if the motor turns in opposite direction every other time, you can't do this becuase juicer will slip and turn in the other direction.

overall the best quality-to-price value ratio i've seen in an appliance in years. i thought when i bought it, "oh, heck, for the money i paid for it, if it breaks, i can just replace it wtih a new one," thinking something that cheap would break within a few months. it's been over a year, and still going strong..

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little juicer!, April 6, 2007
This review is from: Toastmaster 1109 Citrus Juicer (Kitchen)
I've been using mine consistently for the past 2 years. I love it so much, that I bought one for my brother as a gift, because he was looking for a small citrus juicer. They clean up easily and has a strong enough motor to juice any and all citrus. The price on Amazon is better than what I'd paid in the store for mine.

I have 3 of these now and none work because the same part "small cone p/n 70718 " has cracked where the shaft goes in . Customer service is none-existent .. They have email addresses that don't work , telephone numbers that tell you 50 people are in line ahead of you , and no satisfaction . Don't waste your money . They must know that the part is no good and being looking for rebuys . not anymore !!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product, July 20, 2007

I am very happy with my citrus juicer. It works well and is very easy to clean. I have a more expensive juicer for carrots and celery and other types of vegatable juices, but I find this juicer far superior when one wants to juice citrus. This juicer is an excellent value.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does the job with a little effort....., November 13, 2006
This review is from: Toastmaster 1109 Citrus Juicer (Kitchen)
I purchased this because the Proctor Silex one I wanted was not available from Amazon directly. I sometimes have a hard time getting the juice pitcher off of the motor mount, it actually got stuck once and I spilled half of my juice getting it off! It actually juices well, and the pulp catcher does it's job if you remove excess pulp as you go. (otherwise it builds up and blocks the juice from going through) I was disappointed in the cover, which just sort of sits on top of the pitcher as opposed to snapping on or fastening in some way. It slid off repeatedly until it eventually fell on the floor and broke. Other than that the motor itself is strong and gets all the juice out effectively. In retrospect I wish I had purchased the other one.

1.0 out of 5 stars It broke after a few use!!, October 2, 2009
This review is from: Toastmaster 1109 Citrus Juicer (Kitchen)
I got this item at Christmas at my old company during a gift exchange. It was brand new and I just pulled it out to use. After a four mornings of juicing, the engine just went out. I called about the warranty and they wanted me to show proof of purchase. The warranty is 1 year after PURCHASE. I guess Toastmaster don't really stand by their products. Not worth the money, even if it's under $10. This product is not supposed to be a disposable product -- but now I have to throw away after a few use.

This is a great juicer if you're looking for a small appliance that's not an everyday player. This was purchased to make the large amount of manual labor needed to make ceviche(a traditional spanish seafood dish that involves lemon and orange juice)more manageable. I asked my wife to make it for my family and I was recruited (less volunteered, more drafted) to assist in the citrus squeezing. It is a labor of love because the recipe is delicious and taste bud envigorating but it is a royal pain to process the amount of fruit needed. I would eat this every week if carpel tunnel syndrome was not involved. After that experience I suggested that we get a product of modern convenience called a juicer. It has eliminated the negative aspects of this culinary delight and all that's left is the consuming of large quanities. My mother-in-law, who is a traditionalist and mocks people who take shortcuts, has given this little wonder her seal of approval. She tapped the juicer and said it was alright. "Praise from Caesar is praise indeed."
Ounce for ounce, it does a great job. You could easily pay more for a larger capacity juice extractor if it's something you use on a daily basis and don't mind cleaning all the parts. If your're making V-8 from scratch everyday, skip this model and dig deeper in your wallet. This is the ideal juicer for those times when a recipe requires it and you don't want to make a major investment for minor use.

Great juicer for the price-I had to replace a smaller, older unit and this one is much better. It's fast, holds more juice and cleans up easily.

I use this in Florida to juice grapefruit. Love it! Easy to use, lots of pep. The only thing I don't like is that the seeds are usually in the juice. The screen is not fine enough to catch the smaller ones so I need to filter the juice afterwards which is not a big deal. Super value for money in my opinion.
