A couple of problems, December 8, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Toastmaster 6420 Basic Burner Single-Burner Buffet Range (Kitchen)
Firstly, the top does not lift up very far for cleaning. Cleaning the inside is therefore a hassle.
Secondly, the temperature control knob is black as is the unit; you cannot easily see the position of the knob! I marked a few places on the unit with a Sharpie and colored the top of the knob so I could at least tell what was going on.

The little burner that could..., August 25, 2004
This review is from: Toastmaster 6420 Basic Burner Single-Burner Buffet Range (Kitchen)
I have no kitchen stove so I have been relying on this little champ for everything from tea to pasta (before South Beach Diet) to making eggs in the morning, etc. I have owned this unit for over 3 years and have NEVER ONCE had a problem with it. Awesome for a college student or a person with a tiny apartment such as mine. Also great for taking to work. It is a bit hard to clean and there is not too much area to touch to move it while it is still cooling down. Other than that, I highly recommend it. I am here today to buy the DOUBLE version and I can only hope that it performs as well as it's little sister. Enjoy!!! - Lin

Breaks After 6 Months--AVOID this one like the plague!, April 30, 2007
This review is from: Toastmaster 6420 Basic Burner Single-Burner Buffet Range (Kitchen)
I have just thown away the second Toastmaster 6420 burner to fail within a year--the first one lasted four months, this one lasted 8 months. I know, I know, I am idiot for buying a second one after a failed first. You would think I would learn my lesson.
After they failed, if you shook them to try to make them work (which was effective at times), you could see sparks inside the unit--very dangerous to say the least.
I have seen several posts across the internet that I am not the first to experience problems with these inexpensive Toastmaster burners dying after a very, very short time. Mine failing (as well as sparking) were NOT isolated incidents.
This is as bad and cheaply made as a product can get. Not to mention just plain dangerous!
AVOID THE TOASTMASTER BURNERS LIKE THE PLAGUE!!
