The worst POS coffeemaker ever ... doesn't deserve even 1 star,
By Beth "Beth" (Richmond, VA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Toastmaster TCM10PW 10-Cup Automatic Coffee Maker (Kitchen)
My old coffeemaker finally gave up the ghost over Christmas. I felt guilty spending a lot of money on myself to get another machine so I went with Target's cheapest ... this Toastmaster. It is a choice I have resented and regretted ever since. I will *never* buy a Toastmaster product again. You can't pour water or coffee without it spilling all over the counter. The machine is poorly built in that you can barely get the coffeepot out without forcing open the flimsy coffee door. There's no auto-off option. The "stop and pour a cup" concept doesn't work -- you run serious risk of burning yourself (or the house down) using this machine on a day-to-day basis and mine is going in the trash. I went to Walmart last night and bought a decent Mr. Coffee machine with all the bells and whistles for $50 and it is already worth the price because of the lack of aggravation and disgust I didn't have to suffer thru this morning, just to get a cup o' joe going. Save yourself the misery and spend the extra money on a different brand. In this case, you *do* get what you pay for ... don't pay for this, whatever you do!

I bought this product after my 10 year old Mr. Coffee finally gave up the ghost. The low cost of the Toastmaster caught my eye. Unfortunately, even the low price is too expensive for this product. It took me 10 minutes just to figure out how to open the swing basket. The latch is strong enough so you think you're going to break the plastic just trying to open it. The pot is very difficult to get in and out when coffee is brewing and it spills everywhere when pouring anything over a half full pot. If you don't like grounds in your coffee, you will need to purchase cone filters, which are more expensive than standard filters. Finally, and this is my fault, I didn't notice that this brand doesn't have an automatic shut-off. I can't tell you the number of times I've forgotten to turn it off. I'm thoroughly disappointed with this purchase and will definitely spend the money to get a better product next time.

If you don't mind spilling every time you pour, buy this...,

The other reviewer had it right: every time you go to pour a cup, the carafe spills coffee on your counter and down the side of your cup. Ha, come on Toastmaster, people have been pouring things out of pots since the dawn of time--surely you can design a pot that doesn't spill every time you pour! You have to clean this machine more often b/c of the spills and it's a white machine. We have this machine at work (actually, the model WITH the auto shut-off--it's no better) and I curse it every time I use it. We have to lay paper towels in front of the machine for WHEN (not IF) it spills.

Piece of crap,

One star is an over-exaggeration for this coffeepot. 8 out of 10 times it will over-flow in the coffee filter part and you end up with coffee grounds all over the counter. My recommendation is if you receive one as a gift, pass it on to someone else next year. If you see one on the shelf at the store, pass by it and move on to something much better. I am not surprised that it is out of stock or discontinued because it is worthless.

Throw this item in the trash,
By
This review is from: Toastmaster TCM10PW 10-Cup Automatic Coffee Maker (Kitchen)
I brought this coffee maker about a month ago. It*s the old story, you get what you pay for. This coffee maker is the worst piece of garbage, I*ve ever purchased. You can*t pour water from the pitcher into the coffeemaker without it leaking all over the place.
When the coffee is finished brewing, there is coffee and coffee grinds all over the counter top and floor. WE even noticed that the teflon coating on the warmer was coming off the first time, when we wiped it off. What a mess. After about a month trying to use this thing, with no success, I finally threw it into the garbage can, and went out and brought a Sunbeam coffee maker. I*ve have read reviews on this item from other people on the web, and they share my views entirely. Maybe a few people have had a good experience with this item, but very few. PLEASE don*t buy this item. If you have, you know, what I am talking about. I only paid about $10.00 for it, but you would think a person should at least, get about six months of good service out of it, before you began having trouble with it, at least I think you should. I started to call the company to complain, but I figured it would cost me more than it would be worth, to ship it back to the company for repairs. So I told my wife to forget it, and as I have said, we brought a new coffee maker, but not toast maker. I think toast maker should stick to making maker toaster ovens, and forget making coffee makers, that I think they know nothing about. This item should have been taken off the market, long ago. This is my report on this toastmaster coffee maker. Thanks for reading it. Sincerely, James F. Kilner.

Hot grinds and hot coffee spewin' action!,

Well, I can't say that I didn't like this thing at first. It came with a little scoopy to dig out your coffee beans and grinds. At first it seems like a nice little unit. I poured a pot of water into it in order to do away with any oils left over from manufacturing. I say you should run 3 pots of water through it before use (filterless of course). After a few uses, I noticed that the carafe does spill out onto the counter if you do not pour slowly. If you want your coffee now and have no time to pour, don't get this item. After having this machine for 3 weeks now, and using it constantly every morning, I have finally decided that it is near total crap. I just made a pot of coffee this morning when the machine decided it would spurt some hot air & water which caused the grinds blow all over the place. Spilling out of the top onto the carafe and drooling hot coffee and grinds all over the counter. How nice. If you're going to buy a cheap coffee maker, spend the extra 5 or 6 dollars and get a semi-decent one. Toastmaster should stick to toasting. If you do decided to get this, buy some towels and a mop as well.

No Frills & No Satisfaction,
This review is from: Toastmaster TCM10PW 10-Cup Automatic Coffee Maker (Kitchen)
This is a basic coffee maker. Unfortunately, you really must use the mesh filter that comes with the appliance. Using paper cone filters for more than 4 cups of coffee will lead to clogging in the water drip container and cause the water to overflow and make a mess. If cheap is what you want in a coffee maker then, this is it. You definitely get what you pay for with this product.

Update after using product nearly a year...,
By Gloria G. (Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Toastmaster TCM10PW 10-Cup Automatic Coffee Maker (Kitchen)
I bought this coffee maker when my previous machine died a sudden death and I was short of cash. After nearly a year (see previous review) I don't regret the purchase at all.
I was recently given a Krups coffee maker (around 50$ here on Amazon) and the ONLY improvement I can claim on the Toastmaster is that brewing is about half the time (about 10 minutes for a 10 cup pot vs. about 20 minutes with the Toastmaster). Everything else has functioned wonderfully for the year I've used it (and I'm a coffee freak who often brews a couple of pots a day). Even the white plastic, which I was sure would stain doesn't look bad at all. I still recommend it, especially if you're on a budget and/or need a "second" or "backup" machine.

I'm in the process of getting things for my first apartment and I bought this. You do get what you pay for. If you are just starting out, whether it be your first apartment or going off to college, this would be a good item. If you are looking for something for that first home or replacing a coffee pot that finally gave out, shop around and pay a little more.

I got this coffee maker for christmas, and the first time I went to pour a cup of coffee the basket swung out dripping hot coffee and grounds all over. We should all get refunds and the product should be pulled from the market. It is a danger to all how have one.
