4.0 out of 5 stars love it love it - A must for moms of Toddlers!
Well as you can tell I'm very happy with the Ultravection oven.
I would give it 5 stars, however, the cleanup is not easy.
When the grease from meats splatters all over, it takes more than a wet sponge (add some Dawn) to clean it up.
Plus I add a foil to the collection tray to make cleaning that easier.

1.0 out of 5 stars What were they thinking??
I recieved this convection oven for Christmas and am very dissapointed with the lack of user interface. You cannot set the temperature yourself. You can only use the preset settings on the touch panel. Also, the way the removable door was designed is quite faulty. The weight of the basket attached to the door pushes the bottom of it out so you can't get a good seal. It...

I think I've used this oven EVERY day since I got it!!

We have made pork chops & filet mignon (frozen from Costco). Delicious!!

The best feature is the frozen pizza option. Today I had a California Pizza Kitchen pizza in 9 minutes!
The kids adore the chicken nuggets (8 min.!) and french fries.
I have even re-heated lasagna and leftover Chinese food. (each on a piece of foil) Each came out better than if I had reheated them in the microwave.

It is so great for lunch - for quick and last minute decisions, as well as, for dinner.

I know - I saw the infomercial and was unsure. And I didn't tell my husband I ordered it until it was on the counter.
But now he thinks it is great!
I'm so glad I got this. (Plus it saves so much time and energy so I don't have to turn on the oven.)

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY UNIQUE DESIGN!! WORKS LIKE A CHARM!!!, December 12, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Toastmaster TUV48 Ultravection Oven (Kitchen)
One of the reviewers didn't like the design. I must admit that I was at first baffled by the door that comes off with a basket attached to it(strange design indeed). The oven's bottom funnels down to a crumb tray underneath which makes for easy cleaning.

The door/basket is perfect for loading with french fries, tater tots, cheese sticks, rolls, sandwiches, onion rings, potatoes, chicken, pork chops, small pizzas,etc...etc. Everything gets equally heated top and bottom!

The controls are unique...If you're cooking a pizza just push the special "pizza" button. Everything else you cook will use a combination of three mode buttons: turbo(how done you want it on the inside), crisp(how crisp you want it on the outside) and brown(how brown you want it). Push buttons are used to select the amount of time in each mode(sounds hard but it's simple). You can taylor all your food to suit yor taste.

It comes with a very useful videotape to get you started. I've got to stop writing this because I'm getting hungry thinking about the great food that comes out of this fantastic oven!!

One last thing: My power bill has gone down since getting on of these!!! This oven will pay for itself fast because the price is great!!

4.0 out of 5 stars In a hurry? The Ultravection Oven is the answer!, July 14, 2002

I purchased the Ultravection oven after watching the infomercial several times. I was intrigued by the design and the price seemed more than reasonable. Having used it for several months, I can say the following: 1. For frozen foods and snacks, it is invaluable. It cooks the food perfectly in a fraction of the time required with more conventional methods. 2. With three heat settings and a programmable timer, you can experiment with your food to get the necessary doneness and browning. 3. Cleanup can be a pain, especially with fresh meats. However, I wait until the oven is cool and then spray a little Simple Green, wait a minute and wipe clean with paper towels. I also line the drip tray with foil, a technique suggested in an earlier review. 4. Toasting bread is better done with a toaster or toaster oven. The Ultravection takes longer to do this as you have to turn the toast over in the basket.

Overall, I really like the Ultravection Oven. It saves time and energy and produces perfectly cooked food. For the price, you can't go wrong and I think you will use it more and more as you experiment with the settings/timer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ultravection Oven - The Microwave Alternative, December 25, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Toastmaster TUV48 Ultravection Oven (Kitchen)
We still have one of the original Ultravection Ovens and have really been pleased with the quality of the cooked food that you can achieve with this unit. We had some problems with "smoking" in the beginning (but then we stopped cooking "overly fatty foods" in it, and it now works great).

We use it for meats, breads, re-heating pizza or hamburgers (great for kids!), making greaseless & fat free french fries (great for everyone!) and more.

We have ordered this new Toasmaster "Quick Cooker" Ultravection oven, which has been improved to reduce some of the minor problems with the original oven (easier clean-up, smoking, etc.)

The size of the unit and it's versatility (1) cooking different types of foods together at the same time (i.e., fish & french fries, chicken breast & rolls (added later for less cooking time); (2) using the unit with just an electrical outlet (i.e., in a dorm room, RV, even on a boat); and (3) being able to cook "instantly" with the fast heating unit, makes this my favorite kitchen appliance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ultra-Pizza Cooker, June 10, 2001
This review is from: Toastmaster TUV48 Ultravection Oven (Kitchen)
I have owned the Ultravection since it came out in March.I have had nothing but success with everything that I have cooked in it.The highlight for me is the way it cooks frozen pizzas like Freschetta(my favourite) The crust rises perfectly and cooks evenly in 8 minutes everytime. It also cooks steaks, hamburgers, chicken etc.All the food taste like it was grilled.I even cook whole chickens and cornish hens in it.The only thing negative is the tiny instruction booklet it comes with.Hopefully a book will b printed outlining cooking suggestions. You cant go wrong with this oven! x

.... This oven cooks fat free french fries that taste fried. I tried chicken drumsticks and they came out like they were grilled. Crispy outside, tender inside. Same with pork chops. I had to add a few more minutes to cooking times but that's easy to do without burning, since you can see the food cooking through the oven door. If you want cooking with no fat, buy this amazing oven.

For years, I purchased the Nesco Jet Stream Oven. I had been very satisfied with the quality, but the Nesco Jet Stream oven has two major drawbacks. The plastic domes cracks after a few months of use and the motors burn out within a year. I saw the Toastmaster Ultravection at Target and decided to give it a try. I was extremely impressed with it's cooking quality. I primary use it to cook meat(steaks, chicken, ribs, fish) and really like the way it gives meat a crisp finish and and cooking the food much better than trying to either deep fry or broil. The are two drawbacks. First, it will only cook for up to 15 minutes. Although it does cook faster than a conventional oven, it usually takes longer than 15 minutes to cook certain size portions. Second, it is somewhat difficult to clean throughly. It's great for a single person like myself, but the cooking area is too small to cook for a family. It would be great if they created a family unit which could cook about twice as much as this unit.

I did pork loin and potato. Sliced the loin and potato and cooked together. Meat was tender and juicy, potato brown. Half frozen fish was delicious in about 12 min. Odor did not transfer into house. Texture and taste great. I seasoned meats and brushed with olive oil. Clean up takes a few minutes and it takes a while to cool so I do it the several hours later. Just brush the basket using dishwashing liquid. A paper towel sprayed with orange clean gets drips from bottom of oven. Then wipe with damp paper towel. Not bad. This is great for one or two people who hate heating the big oven.

5.0 out of 5 stars great oven great price, October 6, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Toastmaster TUV48 Ultravection Oven (Kitchen)
I think this oven is one of the first things I bought on an infomercial that actually works as well--or better--than on TV. The oven makes the best pizzas so fast, french fries, steaks. Pillsbury breadsticks and cookies come out awesome. Cleaning is really not that tough I dont know why people complain so much its not a big deal. And for the price its just a steal. One nights steak dinner out pays for this oven and two steaks at the butcher which come out just as good! People that complain about not being able to adjust the temperature just dont get it-- its not a conventional oven where that matters,. The only complaint I would have is that there is not enough information on enough different food types and the proper cooking times--the infomercial and video show foods being cooked while there is no cooking times in the booklet so you have to experiment to figure it out. But that has actually been fun, so its no big deal. This is the coolest thing everyone that sees it wants one.

4.0 out of 5 stars perty good lil oven !, February 4, 2002

This review is from: Toastmaster TUV48 Ultravection Oven (Kitchen)
This oven doesnt have the best design, for one thing the fat from foods drips down on the lower element creating alot of smoke, however it doesnt do this with all foods, mainly just fatty meats.Of course you can use a small, flat, shallow pan in the basket to eliminate smoking and mess in bottom of oven however keep in mind that a pan will block hot air flow through the bottom of the basket which will prevent searing of meat and also reduce cooking efficiency. I have used parchment paper with good results,it seems to allow for more hot air flow than a pan and wont harm the non-stick finish of the basket, the non stick benefit is questionable on some foods. This oven works well if you can get around these nitpicks. Its fast, adds flavor, browns and crisps well, great for convenience foods like frozen pizza, french fries etc. I find I can cook many of these foods in 1/2 or 1/3 the time of a big oven, for microwave containers simply remove the frozen mass from its container and place in basket. Enjoy and good eating !
