Elvis When He Tried,
By
This review is from: Today (Audio CD)
This Elvis album was recorded in March 1975. This was the last time RCA Records managed to drag Elvis into a recording studio. Any albums released after this were either live albums, or they were recorded in a makeshift studio in Elvis' own house. Elvis had lost his love for recording at this point. He recorded the bare minimum number of songs required for this album, and did far less takes than he usually did. He used to be a perfectionist who would perform a song over and over until it was pefect, but by this point he would just perform a song a few times until it was "close enough". Despite that, the album is still pretty good. There isn't a bad song here, especially compared to some of the junk Elvis recorded for his film soundtracks. "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" is my personal favorite here, but all the songs have something to offer. I recommend this album to Elvis fans.

The most underrated of Elvis's 70's studio albums!,
By Joe Obradovic (Columbus, Ohio USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Today (Audio CD)
Hello, By far, this album happens to be the most underrated Of Elvis's 70's studio albums. Why? I'm not really sure, because it's one of his best. Recorded at RCA's Hollywood studios in March of 1975, this album would represent his last attempt at recording in a full-fledged studio. Elvis is at ease while singing the mixture of Rock, Country, and Ballad-like tunes. T-R-O-U-B-L-E is the shining star from this album. It is his best rocker since his Sun days, and the pulsating tempo , along with his voice, doesn't miss a beat for even a moment. The romantic ballad And I Love You So is sung beautifully, while the Gospel tune Shake A Hand makes you jump out of your seat and clap your hands. The upbeat I Can Help is sung with the typical Elvis drawl included, and Bringin' It Back is an extraordinary country ballad sung with real feeling. This is one album that's a must for all Elvis fans, and even those that listen to him with a little less gusto. There's something for everyone to listen to in this album!

This is either the best album of Elvis in 70s or best in his life.Together with his 1976 release "from elvis presley boulevardmemphis tennessee","Today" is a great record for all time in music.Very emotional and heart-breakin' full of sadness and one of his last farewell to the world.I esp. recommend you the track "bringin' it back".While listening to this you definitely will cry and think your memories again. There is nothin' bad on the album however lotta great stuff on it...

when this album was released, elvis was 40 yrs old, and going thru a lot of issues in his life, his voice quality is up to par, and t-r-0-u-b-l-e, was a great rock tune.....how ever,as much as the release was good,...the quadraphonic release of the 8 track, and album, was much better, all of the unnessary back up vocals, and sweetening of the music by felton jarvis was eliminated....hopefully r.c.a-b.m.g...will release some of the quad out takes..!

I had this album as a child, I was so happy when it was released on cd, it is without a doubt his best 70's work...It is a great mixture of rock, rhythym & blues & country with a hint of gospel. If you like the 70's era from the King Of Rock N Roll you'll love this CD...It's great.

Elvis Retorna as origens,
By Sergio Luiz Fiça Bistom (Brasil) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Today (Audio CD)
Bringing It Back e Pieces of My life são outras duas belas baladas em que Elvis mostra toda sua habilidade. Em geral um grande Álbum de Elvis, que junto com Elvis Country e Moody Blue mostram a visão artística de Elvis e sua grande flexibilidade de estilos.
