My bf (EDIT: now husband) and I love these!, June 25, 2006

OK, not sure what the other commenter means about the oral sex taste, but it does not exist. My bf (now husband) cannot even tell I am using anything with this product. No feeling, no taste, nothing. Sure, it doesn't protect against STDs, but neither does the pill. This works much better because there are no side effects, no hormones and no waiting time. You just insert it and you are ready to go. It's even better than a diaphragm because no prescription is needed and the spermicide is in the sponge. All you do is open the package, wet the sponge, squeeze it to distribute the spermicide within it, and insert, which is very easy. That's it! Removal is no problem, too. Yes, we love these things!

5 stars would be no need for contraception, August 18, 2006

The only disadvantage I can think of for this one is the fact that sometimes there is a little foamy leakage. I planned ahead one day and grabbed one early, so that when the kids went to sleep we would be ready. In the course of the afternoon, I was busy doing standard domestic stuff--dishes, cooking, chasing a 3 year old and two other children, not to mention walking the dog-- there was a certain amount of leakage from the spermacide. Perhaps I accidentally used too much water or something, but it was a one time issue. Hubby said order more, he loves them, said he doesn't even know they are there. I couldn't say on the oral, we haven't done that with these, and we don't risk relying on them on the actual day of ovulation, but overall, I have to say, wonderful product, no risk, no problems, comfortable, easy to insert and remove. Also no need to watch the clock to see when that narrow window is like you have with films, foams, and jellies.

Been using it for years, August 13, 2006

First, it is not just men who don't like condoms. I'm a woman and I hate condoms. The guys I've dated have been more than willing to use condoms. If a guy was unwilling to wear a condom, I'm not sure I would trust him, and I would probably not have sex with him. However, I do not like condoms and therefore I've chosen to use other forms of birth control. After trying the pill, the novaring, and a diagphram, I discovered the sponge. I highly recommend it. My boyfriend cannot feel it, and there is no numbness or strange taste. It is not an "alternative" for me, it is my first choice.
