About the Author
Dana C. McWay, JD, RRA is both a lawyer and a health information management professional. With training and experience in both disciplines, experience as a voting member of the Institutional Review Board at Washington University Medical School, and experience in converting a paper-based record management system to an electronic record management system, she brings a wide-ranging perspective to this book. Her previous positions include Chief Deputy Clerk of Court for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and Director and Assistant Director of Medical Records at a large teaching hospital and a for-profit substance abuse facility. She is admitted to practice in both Illinois and Missouri. Ms. McWay has served on several committees of the American Health Information Management Association, most recently the Professional Ethics Committee, and of the Missouri Health Information Management Association, including as a member of the Legislative Committee. The recipient of a Triumph Award (the Legacy Award) from the American Health Information Management Association for the first edition of this book, LEGAL ASPECTS OF HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT, she currently serves as the Clerk of Court for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Missouri.
