Not just for those who are pregnant...,
By
This review is from: Todays Mom Cozy Comfort Pregnancy Pillow - White (Toy)
I'm a middle aged man with a bad back and therefore cannot possibly get pregnant under any circumstances. I did hear about these pillows on a radio program, however, and decided to try this particular one for some much needed back support while in bed.
I was so thrilled with how well the pillow seems to have the much needed bumps and nooks just where you need them for both back and abdominal support. I slept with mine for the first time last night (after making some pillow cases for it...) and truly had an amazing sleep experience. I never thought my best spooning would be with some polyester batting in a keyhole shaped pillow. Go figure. Some have mentioned that the enclosed pillow cover might be a bit caustic to the skin. It is made from a woven interfacing material and I believe is meant only to be a pillow protector as opposed to being an actual pillow case. Should Ralph Lauren have made such a pillow slip, let me tell you, it would clearly have listed for more than the actual pillow I purchased. Since I'm not unfamiliar with a sewing machine or DIY projects I decided to make some pillow cases for this odd duck from some old Ralph Lauren oxford cloth sheets. I can tell you from experience it is a rather large footprint. You might squeeze two sides from a fitted queen sheet if you are lucky but I can definitely get three sides from a flat queen sheet if I take out the stitching on the top hem. Use the pillow protector as your pattern piece. It works just fine. I'm not sure my idea of a fun Saturday morning is placing 30" zippers into pillow slips, but let me assure you the second one went in more easily than the first. They do sell a 30" light weight zipper at my local fabric store as a "robe replacement" zipper that suits the job perfectly. The rest of the sewing is pretty straight forward except for the inner curve at the top. My pillow protector has a second panel sewn in at that position but I just cut slits in the selvage to releast the tension. I had already serpentine stitched the selvage so it wouldn't let go. It seemed to work out just fine. So for those who are pregnant or the middle aged among us with bad backs, please do consider trying this product. If you are at all skilled with a sewing machine, make yourself some pillow cases and use the pillow liberally. I can't recommend it highly enough as something to brace your back, to cuddle your body, or to simply support those extra body parts you didn't see coming.

Purchase this pillow! I wasn't expecting to have a child at my age, I'm 39, but when I found out I knew that I had to do everything possible to keep this baby healthy and happy. I also knew I had to keep my body healthy and happy. With 4 previous pregnancies, I've become a veteran of sorts. I never thought a new product would turn me on my ear, but the Cozy Comfort Pillow by Today's Mom has done just that. I've tried other pregnancy pillows with my 2 previous children and found them to be OK, but with a lot of work to be done. My last pillow was by Leachco and it worked alright, but it could have been much, much better. For example, I woke up just as sore in the morning as I was when I went to bed. The Cozy Comfort promised improved lumbar support and I was very hesitant at first But, after making the purchase I believe every word. The shape of the pillow is better than any other pillow because it truly does support your frame. My back feels great in the morning and that is very important to me. The shape of the pillow also helps in supporting my legs and stomach. My belly gets actual support from the pillow and gives me lots of comfort. A small, but invaluable feature is the removable cover. Other pillows make taking the cover off the biggest hassle in the world, but not this one. It is so easy to remove that my husband even washed it for me!

Disappointed with product,

After reading the reviews on this pillow, I thought this would be the perfect one for me. Although this pillow does provide good back and leg support, there are some major drawbacks that I can't seem to overlook. Being pregnant, I often find that I am uncomfortably hot at night. I like pillows that are cool to the touch when you put your head down for the night. Unfortunately, the pillow cover does not have a smooth feel to it. It is covered with a fabric that has a slightly rough texture to it. As a result, the pillow cover retains my body heat which makes me toss and turn throughout the night. To solve this problem, I covered the pillow with an existing sheet I had and it has helped to keep my pillow cooler. In addition, the picture online show that when you are on your side, one of your arms has to go under the pillow. I tried it that way, but after 5 mins, the weight of the pillow makes my arm fall asleep. I've had to put a pillow underneath this "U" shaped pillow just to give my arm some room for circulation. Since I sleep on a queen bed, I try to keep my pillow on my side of the bed so that my husband has room to sleep. Unfortunately because this pillow is bulky, the arm that is under the pillow when I am on my side often dangles off the edge of the bed which also contributes to my arm falling asleep. I wish the head area of the pillow provided more support for me. I've had to add another pillow to get comfortable. For now I am going to see if I get better results by turning the pillow around so that the curved head part is down by my feet. In the end, it's a big hassle and not worth the money I spent for it. I am now looking for another pillow to help me sleep better through the night.
