I wanted to learn more about braking systems. Sure, I knew how to throw new parts and knuckle skin at them, bleed them, rebuild various cylinders and the basic mechanics of a braking system. But I wanted to get deeper into the subject.

These books are aimed at the professional mechanic or anyone that wants to be one. Takes you through in easy stages. The book is pretty general so if you want specific instruction in your particular system you won't find it here although there are references to specific manufacturers.

All aspects of brakes and braking are covered. There is even a chapter on the effects of wheel widths, offsets and alignment on braking performance.

If you only need to know how to swap out brake pads stick with the Haynes manual for your vehicle, if you want to go a lot deeper into brake theory and design, this set of books is a great addition to your library.

As a hobbyist, I found the knowledge that was present in this text quite resourceful. Whether you are attempting to improve your current knowledge of an automobile's braking system, or learn it for the first time, this is a very valuable resource.
