When my son-in-law Drew returned from deployment, my grandson was 13 months old. Drew was anxious to get to know his son and help my daughter take care of him, but he had not had much experience with little ones. Drew's catching on real fast, but this book is a help to him. The technical-style language reminds me of my cell phone or computer instruction books (in a humorous way) and is truly geared to a guy's way of thinking. The information is reliable, concise, and organized for quick reference as well as cover-to-cover reading. So if Drew needs to pack a diaper bag for a day trip, or if Ryan gets a boo-boo while mommy's shopping, he has a go-to answer book in the Toddler Ownder's Manual. The author should think about selling this to the Department of Defense to distribute to dads returning home, it should be required reading!

This book is very informative in a non-reference kinda way. While it's laid out like a car owners manual, it can be used for direct reference to whatever you are looking for. However, it is also writing chronologically, so that you can start from the beginning, and read along as your baby grows. Its written in a half sarcastic/playful manner which keeps you entertained while learning or verifying information. Definitely something a parent should not go without, if not just for entertainment.

I like this book, it's written like a car manual except for your toddler. It's funny, and has a lot of great info. I also have the baby owners manual. My husband likes the way it's written also. It's to the point, and you don't have to read through a bunch of stuff to get the info you're looking for.

A fun review for grandparents and parents,

This review is from: The Toddler Owner's Manual: Operating Instructions, Troubleshooting Tips, and Advice on System Maintenance (Paperback)
This is a cute little book that will provide a great review for parents and grandparents about what it means to be a toddler.
The chapters include Updates for Home and Transportation (this was written in 2005, so some of this info is most likely outdated). Chapter two contains General Care and Handling and gives some good ideas for comforting a child, suggestions for toys and travel. Chapter three gives a humorous overview of "Understanding the Toddler's Power Supply" which concentrates on eating and food. Programming the Sleep Mode, chapter four, talks about sleeping patterns. Chapter five concentrates on "General Maintenance and Training" such as reprogramming the child from diapers to "self-waste disposal." You'll find charts and more in Chapter six about "Growth and Development." Chapter seven includes some realistic and proven techniques for "Discipline." Chapter eight concentrates on emergencies and safety.

As a principle of a school serving toddlers, this is THE manual that I recommend all parents to read. It is concise, to the point, and the techniques are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! The author has done a SUPERB job of addressing ALL the challenges that we as parents face and come up with BRILLIANT techniques to address them............Now Brett Kuhn....PLEASE come up with a 'teenagers manual' and a 'Husband manual'!!!!

A Wonderful Book on Raising a Toddler,
By
This review is from: The Toddler Owner's Manual: Operating Instructions, Troubleshooting Tips, and Advice on System Maintenance (Paperback)
This book is great. It quickly gets to the point and offers succinct, relevant, and accurate advice for raising a toddler. My wife has been struggling with our little 19-month-old girl, and I picked up this book to help her. She says that it has been a godsend. The only unfortunate part is that we didn't come across this little gem sooner. This may be the only book for raising a toddler that you'll ever need. Throw out the big, fat manuals. This is what you need.

No Fluff, Great Stuff,

I purchased this book a long time ago and read through it. There's no stories about someone else's brat and what they did with them to keep them happy and in-line... there's not cutsie stories about who their toddlers puked on after eating too much cake...
What DOES it have? Great, standard and (most important of all) USEFUL information presented in a comical but simple manner. Great gift for dads who just can't make it through the 500 pages of the other books which are 490 pages of stories about the author's child and 10 pages of actual things you can use. These books aren't not just a wonderful compendium of good, standard information you should know, but they are wonderfully entertaining at the same time.

DH got a good laugh over this book,
This review is from: The Toddler Owner's Manual: Operating Instructions, Troubleshooting Tips, and Advice on System Maintenance (Paperback)
My husband is a bit on the techy side, so I thought this would be a good book to get him to try to read to get our dd through her toddler years. He often chuckles when he is reading it and seems to enjoy it. That being said, it isn't a book that I really find interesting, so I think it's really geared towards manual type people.
