Book Description

2 and up
Toddler Two is just right for young children beginning to explore their world. This entertaining and informative book features two adventurous toddlers on an afternoon’s romp through their backyard. As they blow bubbles, pull their wagon, dig in the sandbox, play hide-and-seek, and ride on swings, they discover everything about themselves that comes in twos: two eyes, two ears, two hands, two feet, two arms, two legs — two is the number just for them. Rhythmic text and color hand-embroidered fabric illustrations make for a charming and refreshing counting book.

Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

PreS-A charming concept book with butterfly flaps that unfold like pop-ups. Two youngsters take turns discovering things that come in twos: their hands, arms, eyes, feet, etc. Fabric illustrations with sewn and painted details are done in rich colors and add interest to this engaging interactive board book. The text is simple, repetitive, and straightforward-in other words, perfect for the intended audience.-JoAnn Jonas, Carlsbad City Library, San Diego, CA

5.0 out of 5 stars A must buy for Asian-American toddlers, August 6, 2001

A delightfully illustrated book. The subjects are Asian American. It is very difficult to find books with appealing Asian American children as the main subject, versus obligatory supporting roles. And my daughter loves folding and unfolding the flaps, exposuring the different body parts. Also, the flaps are very robust (unlike the "Noisy" series which I had to repair over and over with tape) and she hasn't been able to pull them off or rip them, a tribute to the book design. I subsequently bought 2 more copies to give to my friends' children.

2.0 out of 5 stars no content, December 28, 2011

This book had no content to it. It wasn't a story for entertainment for anyone. It was just a bunch of repetative sentences. With a bit more effort the author would have had a better product. It was a definate disappointment. I bought it as a gift for a 2 year old. I'm glad it was delivered to me rather than my sending it directly to the child. Once I looked at it I decided that it wasn't worth sending. My lesson was to definately read reviews.

4.0 out of 5 stars My version did not have flaps..., May 16, 2008

Maybe the flaps are a new feature, but mine did not have any. No problem, though, as flaps don't tend to hold up that well in the long haul anyway.

I initially bought this book because of the illustrations featuring two Asian children but found that my two-year-old loved the simple text enough to hear it nightly for weeks at a time. Perhaps it's partially because she saw herself in their faces? A quick (one minute) read...no real "story", just observations about the toddlers' two arms, legs, eyes, ears, etc. A cute book, but outgrown by age 3 as my daughter wanted more of a story by then...we just passed it along to a younger friend ;-)
