Todds CV Review Book Volume I: CV Science, Patient Care, Anatomy , Physiology & Pathology. This large book will you for the CV Science Exam given by CCI. It is composed of questions and detailed explanations with many graphics. It is designed to help students pass CCIs CV Science exam. The first chapters teach the basics such as anatomy and patient care. The middle chapters are on anatomy and physiology which comprises 50% of the Science exam. The last chapters cover pathology, which was recently added to the Science exam matrix. Revised in 2002 with everything you need for the new exams This volume #1 is also the first book in the set of 5 books used for cath lab specialists, also available on Amazon.

The CV Science Exam tests your fundamental knowledge. It is chiefly an exam of recall (75% level I). This means that there are few reasoning or interpretation questions. There are math calculations but many formulas are given to you with the question. Simply solve the equation and plug in the required numbers. The essential formulas are listed in the book appendix.

RN’s, RT(R)’s and CAAHEP approved CVT graduates can take CCI's registry exams for Cath (RCIS), Echo (RCS), and Vascular (RVS) immediately, if currently working in the field. They can skip this exam. However, most other technician candidates must pass two exams - the CV Science exam for which this book prepares you and your specialty registry exam.

5.0 out of 5 stars Helped me pass CV Science Exam, May 17, 2007
This review is from: Todd's Cardiovascular Review Book, Vol 1: Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology (Plastic Comb)
The CV Science exam by CCI is so broad you don't know what to study: math, patient care, A & P, pathology... This book narrows it down, and gives you just what you need. It's thick with lots of questions. His explanations are detailed and easy to understand. Lots of clear pictures. I bought it because my ultrasound instructor recommended it.

3.0 out of 5 stars Editing...how embarassing, October 1, 2009
This review is from: Todd's Cardiovascular Review Book, Vol 1: Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology (Plastic Comb)
Let me start by saying that in the past 2 weeks I have passed both the ARRT (CI) and the RCIS with high scores. But the suggestion that memorizing the questions and answers on the study materials will be adequate to obtain a passing score, is very wrong. I studied an astronomical amount of hours (20-30 hrs a week for 3+ months) and I still felt like the tests really made me use reasoning skills...know and understand the explanations. I bought all of the books and the CD but I never opened a single book. My studying consisted of the CD and the internet to answer lingering questions.
The cons -
The MULTIPLE grammatical and mathematical errors and conflicting explanations and answers are VERY frustrating. It is sad that a program that is representative of the field is discrediting because of the complete lack of attention to detail.

This book is being used to study for upcoming board exam. It appears to be very thorough. The format of questions with very complete explanations is a fantastic way to learn.
