Updated powerful modern melodic rock,
By
This review is from: Together Alone (Audio CD)
When I first heard the CD I thought that it was a new release from Saraya who had a minor hit in the early 90's with "Love Has Taken Its Toll," but it turned out that it was a Dutch singer named Anouk. She has a powerful, bluesy and melodic voice that doesn't get stale when listening to this updated version of 90's bar rock/metal. The songs are well crafted, and the production is similarly very good, which makes the CD an absolute pleasure to listen to. The CD is already three years old, but it still sounds fresh, honest, and true to its influences. Make no mistake, this CD doesn't really tread new ground, but it does what it does very well.

You won't be disappointed,
This review is from: Together Alone (Audio CD)
I bought this cd after seeing the video for "Nobody's Wife". Her musical style is unique and stands out amoung the many Dutch artists. The follow-up album, "Together Alone" is more mature musically and lyrically. If you can, get your hands on a special release single "Break Down the Wall" or the cover of Live's "I Alone" with K's Choice. You won't be disappointed.

Dutch Rock Goddess,
By Samantha D. (Aliqiuppa, PA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Together Alone (Audio CD)
The woman can sing, and she isn't afraid to tell you how it really is. Anouk is just oozing with talent, whether is it screaming or serenading with a ballad. "Together Alone" is one of her best CDs, and if you like it, you definitely need her "Urban Solitude" CD. One of the best musicians to ever come out of the Netherlands (in my opinion), and a Dutch rock goddess. Also check out K's Choice if you like Anouk. You won't be disappointed.
