Updated powerful modern melodic rock,
By
This review is from: Together Alone (Audio CD)
When I first heard the CD I thought that it was a new release from Saraya who had a minor hit in the early 90's with "Love Has Taken Its Toll," but it turned out that it was a Dutch singer named Anouk. She has a powerful, bluesy and melodic voice that doesn't get stale when listening to this updated version of 90's bar rock/metal. The songs are well crafted, and the production is similarly very good, which makes the CD an absolute pleasure to listen to. The CD is already three years old, but it still sounds fresh, honest, and true to its influences. Make no mistake, this CD doesn't really tread new ground, but it does what it does very well.

You won't be disappointed,
This review is from: Together Alone (Audio CD)
I bought this cd after seeing the video for "Nobody's Wife". Her musical style is unique and stands out amoung the many Dutch artists. The follow-up album, "Together Alone" is more mature musically and lyrically. If you can, get your hands on a special release single "Break Down the Wall" or the cover of Live's "I Alone" with K's Choice. You won't be disappointed.

Dutch Rock Goddess,
By Samantha D. (Aliqiuppa, PA, USA) - See all my reviews

The woman can sing, and she isn't afraid to tell you how it really is. Anouk is just oozing with talent, whether is it screaming or serenading with a ballad. "Together Alone" is one of her best CDs, and if you like it, you definitely need her "Urban Solitude" CD. One of the best musicians to ever come out of the Netherlands (in my opinion), and a Dutch rock goddess. Also check out K's Choice if you like Anouk. You won't be disappointed.

Good Album!,

I bought this album after I had heard the song Nobody's Wife like hundred times. I bought it and I was sadisfied. Ok it is not perfect but it is really good. It contains strong rock songs and also slow ballads as well. If you are into alternative music this is a must have. You should also check her other cd. URBAN SOLITUDE . It is really good as well.

I really do like this music, because it's strong, powerfull. It unloads so much emotions. Sometimes rough, like 'Nobodies Wife', sometimes sensitive, like 'Sacrifice' and you can even feel the blues... Listen to the samples, and read this reviews, and you might be suprised by the quality of this woman's music. And let me tell you something: Live she performs even better...And don't forget to check out her latest album: 'Urban Solitude'. Fantastic too!

Really Different... Awesome,

This review is from: Together Alone (Audio CD)
I first listened to Anouk because of my dad... he's big on new stuff, always looking for a different place to go, something interesting to see, so as I was searching for a cd to listen to, I came upon Anouk, and dad told me to listen to it, that it was hard rock and I would like it. So I popped it in and, ugh, I HATED it! Immediatly I threw it back and started listening to the radio. Well, just a little bit ago I decided to listen a few other of her songs, just incase I got a bad first impression, and, well, its not hard rock, but some of it is awesome alternative songs that everyone will love and ok slower songs. But it certainly kicks a$$, they get you in a great mood. One thing for sure though, she is NOT your normal Britney Spears or Mariah Carey. Thank God. Her music kinda reminds me of Garbage and I think everyone should get this cd, atleast try it, It's awesome. I have no clue how that guy from England who gave it 1 star got that impression.

Absolutely positively great,

This is really a great cd. Anouk has a wonderful voice. But if you liked this cd, you should check out her second cd: Urban Solitude. It's just as good, or maybe even a little better. Especially track nine is great. It's a duet with Dinand Woesthoff. He's the leadsinger of the Dutch band Kane. Which is an absolutely amazing rockband. They are really unbelievable. Check them out online. You can also visit their unofficial site.

This is an excellent cd! I bought the album for the song "Nobody's Wife," and now that is still my favorite song, among others on that very album! Ranging from hard rock to soft rock, this cd has it all, and sometimes, i just can't push "Stop" on my cd player when I am listening to this. A must-hear, especially if you doubt women performers. I did, and after I heard this album, my entire view changed!

Urban Solitude,

I used to play this album a lot, but now there is the new album Urban Solitude. I think this album is much better, so I don't play the first album very often anymore. Y'all should get her new album. Her latest single R U kidding me is on it. I like the song with the other dutch band Kane the most. I'm going to a concert of Anouk in April. Can't Wait!
